Chapter 9: Time Away

Marshall's POV

"Marshall" a quiet voice spoke was speaking to me and gently nudging me. "Marshall, honey wake up"

"Hmm" I tried to open my eyes but I was way too tired.

It's been one hell of a week, first Fionna still won't go out with me because she wants to go on dates and sh*t, then Bubba constantly bothers me about wanting more advice about talking to girls,  also detention was boring instead of being with Fionna I had to sit in a room and do nothing. I am so glad it's finally the weekend.

"Doofus, wake up!" that voice I knew, it was Leroy but then who was the other voice? I instantly got up thinking I knew who it was and almost hit the person's head with mine. It was the exact person I was afraid it would be.

"Mom?" she smiled and brought me into a tight hug, I pushed her away. "Where the hell have you been? No business trip last for almost 10 years, you missed almost all of Marley's life and mine!" I was furious.

I stormed out of the room before she answered, passing Leroy and grabbing Marley pulling him with me through the large house and outside and into my car. I started the car and drive off with Marley, I need to get away from her, she can't just come back now and expect everything to be alright.

"Marshall where we going?" Marley leaned over the center console and tugged on my shirt. I was still wearing my clothes from last night when I took Fionna out for dinner at Kingdom Cloud, it was a club type of restaurant. Marley was still in his pajamas so we couldn't go in public, I can go to Fionna's she'll be cool with it I'll just text her.

"Hey Fio do you mind if I come over with a friend" I forgot a still haven't told her about Marley, hope she won't be mad when I do. She replied after a few minutes.

"Yeah come on over I don't mind if you bring a friend" ~Fionna.

I'm glad she's so sweet. I turned the car around and started heading over to her place. I looked over and saw that Marley was asleep, he must have been tired.

"Be there in less than five minutes can't wait to see you" I looked at the clock it was only 7:00, wow its early no wonder Marley's tired.

"Can't wait to see you too" ~Fionna.

I finally got to her place and parked, I woke up Marley. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at me.

"Where are we?" he looked around and yawned. I unlocked the car and we got out, he held my hand while we walked to her door. Once we got there I knocked on the door and waited, Cake opened the door and let me come in.

"Who's this little guy?" she bent down so she was head level with Marley.

"I'm Marley!" he yelled.

"Marley don't be so loud" he laughed and let go of my hand running around the apartment, Cake went into the kitchen.

"So that's your friend" I looked away from Marley and at Fionna, she must have just came out of the shower her hair was dipping water. I chuckled.

"Yep that's my friend" she laughed and sat down on the couch, I sat next to her.

"Why didn't you tell me you had a little brother? He's adorable" I watched as he ran into a door and fell to the ground, me and Fionna laughed as Cake went over to help him up. He got up and came over to us jumping on the couch.

"How did you know he was my little brother?" she gave me an are-you-serious look.

"He looks almost exactly like you" I chuckled at that, he does look a lot like me but more like Leroy. I looked at the clock it was only 7:15, good thing I don't have to work until the afternoon. I looked back at Fionna, she was wearing gym shorts and a baggy t-t-shirt. No matter what she wears she still looks beautiful, she laughed.

"What's so funny?"

"You've been staring at me for a couple of minutes" sh*t. I quickly looked away from her and at Marley who went back to running around. She kissed me on the cheek, she hasn't kissed me in anyway since we went to her house. I look at her and she smiled, maybe she finally wants to date me.

"Fionna, do you finally want to make us official?" she immediately stopped smiling and looked away from me. "Is there something wrong?" I scooted closer to her and wrapped my arm around her.

"Cake doesn't want us dating. She said it's better for us to just be friends" I was stunned. Everything was going wrong today, I need to leave until everything goes back to normal.

"Fionna can you watch Marley for a few hours I forgot I had something to do" she nodded. I faked a smile and walked out of the apartment and to my car, as soon as I got in I called in sick for work and started driving. I drove to my house and went in trough the back door and quickly got enough clothes for the weekend and headed back to my car.

"So you're going to run away?" I turned around and saw Leroy standing next to a nearby tree.

"I'm not running away I'm just staying at Fionna's for the weekend" I hope he bought the lie. He smirked and shook his head at me.

"Sure doofus, if you need any money text me" he walked back to the house and gave up a thumbs up, he went inside the house and closed the door behind him. I got in the car and drove off, after six and a half hours I finally made it back to OOO City. I decided to text an old friend.

"Hey stupid meet me at the old place" I headed towards his father's bar, I could use a drink.

"Aye your back mate be there in five" ~Braco.

My phone started ringing I looked at the contact name to see it was Fionna, I ignored it and let it go to voicemail. By the time I arrived Braco was already there, I parked and got out.

"Hey its my favorite Aussie, ready to get drunk off your mind" he laughed and we headed inside towards a private area only for Braco's family.

After we drank for a few hours we were drunk out of our minds, once we started to get sober we said bye and I headed towards my car. I got in and started driving, everything was blurry but I could mostly still see. I saw lights heading towards me, then everything went blank.
