Chapter 5: Memory

Fionna's POV

"Fionna! Fionna!" who's calling my name? Trees started forming around me and it looked like that clearing where Marshall took me. Then a little kid came out, he looked like a little Marshall.

"Marshall! Marshall!" a four year-old me came out from the other side. What's going on? They both ran to each other and hugged each other.

"Fio I'm moving doesn't that sound awesome!"

"Yeah! Where you going Marsh?" she sounded a little upset, but had faked a smile anyways.

"I don't know but it's somewhere big!" little Marshall had a huge smile on his face. I watched as little me started to cry. "What's wrong Fio?" little Marshall held little me's hand.

"I'm going to miss playing with you. You have to promise to visit me" Little Marshall continued to smile at little me.

"I promise" little me smiled again.

"Pinky promise?" she held out her pinky and little Marshall hooked his pinky with hers.

"Pinky promise! Now let's go swimming!" little Marshall and little me both ran and jumped into the water. Everything faded and I ended up in my apartment except little me looked 6. There was a knock at the door and little me ran to answer the door and hugged whoever was there.

"Marshall you finally came to visit!" little Marshall and little me walked over to the living room.

"I pinky promised, remember?" little me smiled.

"Of course I remember, I made you pinky promise!" they both hugged each other than Cake walked into the room. "Cake Marshall's here!"

"I know I see" she smiled than continued doing what she was doing.

"Marsh we have to catch up! What have you been doing since you left?"

"Not much really, I got a bass but mostly I've just missed you" he smiled when he said that.

"I missed you too Marsh! I've been hanging out with my friends Marcy and Lucy! We do things all the time, you should meet them!" I watched as little Marshall's smile faded away and he looked away from little me.

"Fio I don't know if I'll be coming to visit again. I only had today to hang out with you" now it was little me's turn for her smile to fade away.

"But why Marsh?" little me started to cry and little Marshall hugged her.

"I'm sorry Fio but my mum can't bring me and my dad is starting to work a lot now too" little me scooted away from little Marshall.

"Fine then let's just go do something now before you go" little me took little Marshall's hand and walked out the door. Everything faded and I was at the old park near the apartment. I looked around to see little me on the swing's with little Marshall pushing her.

"Higher! Higher!" they were laughing then a black limo pulled up and a tall figure got out. Little Marshall stopped the swing and walked with little me to the limo.

"Sir Marshall Lee it's time to go home" the man stood there waiting. Little Marshall and little me's smiles faded away.

"I guess I have to go now Fio" he turned to face her. She was crying, he hugged her and let go then started walking to the limo. Little me ran after him grabbing his hand then she kissed him. I touched my lips, I remember that kiss. Marshall smiled and then kissed her back, then left. Little me walked back to the apartment crying. I remember all of this.

Meanwhile

Marshall's POV

I watched as Fionna ran into her room I was about to go after her when I felt someone hold me back.

"Marshall Lee, is that you?" Cake looked at me with her beautiful dark eyes. I remember her being taller maybe that's just because I was small.

"Yeah it's me Cake, how come Fionna doesn't remember me?" I felt a little heart broken from it. She just continued to look at me then brought me over to the couch.

"It has been 10 years. I never did find out what happened when you were gone and Fionna came home crying" I remember passing by Fionna walking home her hands in her face.

"We had kissed goodbye and after that I left" Cakes eyes widened when I said that.

"You two kissed?" I nodded. She looked taken back at this. I still remember how sweet Fionna's lips tasted. She looks so much different now. She's so......beautiful.

"I thought she would remember me when we talked at the store then went to our spot in the woods but she didn't. How has she been these past ten years? Has she um dated anyone?" I tried not to make that last question so awkward.

"She's been good hanging out with Marcy and Lucy, and age dated a boy named Floyd when she was 13. He still lives here they go to school together" when she said that I felt something heat up in my body. Was I jealous of Floyd? Even if I was, I was her first kiss so in his face.

"I should be heading home, my dad is waiting for me" I lied so I could get out of here and think.

"How has your parents been? Are they still together?" I nodded.

"Mom's been in a business trip for a few years, dad quit his job to watch after me" I didn't bother bringing up my little brother, I really wanted to get out of here. I got up and headed to the door.

"Can you tell Fionna I said bye and I'll see her at school and if she wants I can pick her up. Here's my number" I grabbed a piece of paper and pen and quickly wrote down my number and handed it to Cake.

"Sure Marshall" I headed out the building to my car. The drive home was torture knowing Fionna didn't remember me. I turned on the radio to get my mind off her, it failed because her favorite song came on so I changed the station. By the time I got home it was 9:00, dad's probably asleep. I opened the door quietly and walked passed the living room when

"Hey little bro, where you been?" I turned around to face Leroy, his full name is Marshall Leroy but everyone just calls him Leroy.

"I just got home from work" he looked at me as if I were stupid.

"Dude I'm not an idiot your job ended at six, its nine" what am I supposed to say I can't tell him I was with Fionna.

"I got lost" I hoped he believed that.

"Just get to bed before I decided to make you tell me" I ran off to bed before he could say anything else. I put my pillow over my head and fell asleep.
