Chapter 26

MARCH 25th

Shai's Pov

The drive to the airport is silent and long. Of course I'm happy and excited to go to Pennsylvania to finish filming The Fault in our Stars. I'm just going to miss everyone, like Zoë, who's been such a great friend and awesome co-star. Also Miles, whom I've known for a while and glad that I still do. And Theo. The only guy that can make me laugh at peverted jokes, the one who's been there with me through this whole process. The one that I'm glad to call my best friend.

It's around five in the morning when I get to O'Hare Airport. Theo had previously agreed to take me, but when I went into his room, which he stupidly left unlocked, he was sleeping and I didn't have the heart to wake him up. So I park my car in the garage, grab my carry-on, and head towards the entrance.

Theo's Pov

Shit.

When I look over at my alarm clock it says 4:50. Fuck, Shai! I hurriedly pull on some jeans and a tee shirt, slip on my converse. On the kitchen counter rests a journal in which I am going to give to Shailene. Once I grab it, I rush out.

I've probably taken about five red lights and I'm currently a little over the speeding limit. When I get to the airport, its around 5:15. I rush inside, explaining to some TSA officers that I'm giving something to my friend who's plane is about to depart soon. They tell me to walk through the metal detector, and I oblige.

My eyes dart from gate to gate, trying to find Shai's flight. Out of nowhere, Ansel's face pops up on my phone.

Ansel! He's on the flight with Shailene! I quickly swipe my finger on the screen and hold my phone to my ear.

"Theo, Shai wants to speak to you really quick. and hurry, out flight leaves soon." Ansel says. I nod, even though he can't see me.

"Theo?" Shai's voice answers.

"Yeah! Yeah, Shai..." I pant, trying to regain my breath. "Theo, to your left. My gate is to your left." My head turns in that direction, and I see her waving.

"Shai," I breathe and hug her tight when I get to her.

"Theo, I'm sorry I didn't wake you up, you just looked so ti-"

"First Class, American Airlines flight Chicago, Illinois to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, start boarding now please." A deep voice announced through the intercom.

"Shai, here." I hand her the journal, which has an electronic lock on it. "This is for you. There's a seven-letter password in which you'll figure out when you need it. And I trust you to know when you'll need it. I'll see you soon, Shailene."

"Theo, I'll miss you so much." Shai says and wraps her arms around her waist. I do the same. She finally let's go and waves at me, and I smile.

And with that she's gone.

I'm going to make a spinoff! Hopefully you guys are excited about this bc I've already started it (sort of)
and I've planned out the first few chapters already. I'm honestly so excited for it tbh!
