― CORA KUTI WAS THE love that Nakia could never forget. The two had met when they were just children and their friendship was the most unusual thing to ever happen to either of them. Wild and outspoken, Cora's path had never crossed with the quiet girl that lived a few blocks down from her but the universe seemed to be pushing the two together. It seemed that everywhere that she went, the girl who seemed to have her head constantly stuck in a book was there. It seemed like simple coincidences at first but soon, they were sure that they were simply meant to find each other. Their friendship had started out tentatively but soon, each girl found herself falling head over heels for the other. Out of fear that her feelings wouldn't be reciprocated, Cora kept her love buried in the deepest parts of her heart.
Their friendship ended with a hurried kiss and a confession of love before Cora's father joined the army and they were stationed in America. The two sent letters back and forth too each other telling the other stories of how their days had gone and how much life sucked without the other but as most young friendships, they drifted apart. All that Cora had to remember of their relationship was the lingering memory of Nakia's lips on hers and a collection of letters buried in a box at the bottom of her belongings.
Nakia hadn't thought about Cora in years. She'd moved on with her life and had joined the war dogs. She got to help people and serve her country as she'd always wanted and she wouldn't have it any other way. She was doing until her dreams were suddenly plagued with strange visions. Every night without fail, she saw the face of a stranger - although she felt as if she could have remembered her - and she heard a strange voice whispering the same thing: "find me." Nakia wasn't sure how she knew but every single time, Cora came to mind. And once again, the woman was taking over her life.
Nakia spent every waking moment with her childhood friend on her mind and she became a new obsession. Nakia used her connections to find out more about Cora Kuti. She'd moved all around the world with her father and she was dead. The girl that Nakia had loved was dead. It tore her apart and she was filled with regret about the things that she could have said when she had the chance. It should have all ended there except that on a mission in South Africa, Nakia found herself staring at the body of her supposedly dead friend who had no memories of her.
— ⎰ NOTES.⎱ ― I'm a sucker for plots like this and I would take it but I already have three plots centred around lost memories and past friendships. But someone please take this. I beg of you. Nakia deserves all the love and I don't think there are any fics for her.
So, Cora is an army brat and I don't know much about the army but you'd have to research that. She moves a lot but she was born on Wakanda. There should be a part one that takes place when they were kids and their relationship. Through the second part which is where most of the story takes place, you could have short excerpts from their letters at the beginning of chapters or something.
So Cora joined the army as well which I'm guessing are the War Dogs but she joined a lot earlier. Way before Nakia joined and she been deep undercover with the main villains for plenty of years so Nakia didn't know that she was also a War Dog. It says that she's dead but she's really undercover and her cover is blown. The antagonist wipes her memories but somebody in the evil organization who she made friends with helped her escape and she's been laying low in South Africa. Nakia meets her on a mission and Cora doesn't remember her but she seems familiar and you can go from there.
About the dreams, I'm thinking that the villain experimented on Cora and gave her the ability to walk through dreams and she subconsciously sends those messages to Nakia.
