┕━━━━━━━━┙― THE BENDERS WERE LEGENDS. A ghost story told to children who believed in the impossible. Most people believed that it was unthinkable that there were immortal beings that controlled every element known to man but there was a sliver of truth to every story.
In reality, they were not immortal but they did exist. They lived within every civilization, kept a secret from the small minded people who would choose to take advantage of their abilities if they ever found out. The benders were divided into four tribes, according to their gifts. There was the water nation, the earth nation, the air nation and the fire nation. Each nation had their own people and their people were gifted with abilities according to their tribes. Everybody except for the Avatar. The Avatar was not one person but a group of people throughout the decades, reincarnated into one body and mind. The Avatar was gifted with the ability of all four elements and was the most powerful person known to man. The Avatars played a large role in the cooperation and peace of all the nations and they did a good job. They stepped in whenever things got too heavy or difficult for one person to handle and the four tribes lived together in harmony until suddenly, the fire nation rebelled. They decided that they were superior to the others and deserved to rule. It was all talk until they joined sides with a Nazi organization called HDRA.
They worked to exterminate anybody who could be a threat to them and killed everybody else who could stand in the way of domination. They hunted down the Avatar, who had the ability to stop them. At this time, the Avatar was a young man named Aang who was just learning who he was. He'd trained with Air Nation monks to master his abilities but the man simply wanted to see the world. He wanted to travel around and take in the beauty of the people around him but his responsibilities never allowed him to do that. He spent most of his time training with benders and learning about boring things that he never thought he'd need until the day that the fire nation found his family.
They killed every last monk in the temple with the intention of finding and killing Aang. He only managed to get away by the skin of his teeth and watched the only family that he'd ever known get charred to a crisp by fire benders. Aang swore that he'd avenge them and he went into hiding, moving from place to place to stay hidden. He'd always wanted to travel the world but when he finally did, it was nothing like he expected. He wanted to fight in the war and get revenge for his family but he was forced to hide out in crowded houses and hide his face in public.
It wasn't a good life but it was the only way that he could survive and he quickly got used to it until he was captured by a man with a red skull for a face who collected benders in an attempt to harness their abilities. Aang was outraged by what he saw and he tried to help but it seemed that bending was no match for science. So, he remained a prisoner and lived his days out in handcuffs. Until he met a water bender named Katara and her brother Sokka, who were fighting to get out. It was a decent attempt but they were no match for the Red Skull. Not alone, at least. With the help of a blind earth bender named Toph and a fire bender prince named Zuko, they formed a revolution. The managed to break the benders out of their chains and it seemed like they were winning but just as they were getting away, the odds turned and soldiers fell like dummies.
It seemed like all hope was lost until Aang gave the rest an opportunity to get away by drawing the Red Skull away from them. It seemed like a stupid choice, to go out that way and sacrifice his life but Aang had come to care about those people and he refused to let another family die. So, he fought until his dying breath. Until the Red Skull dropped him overboard. To die. But Aang had far more resolve and strength than anyone had ever imagined. The only thing that kept him from dying was transition into what he called his Avatar state. Over the years, he remained frozen in the ice, dull to everything around him.
Until he was found by an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. Aang was overwhelmed. It was a whole new world, with different people and none of his friends. It was nearly too much to handle but Aang had a rock through all of this. Steve Rogers. Another man out of time.
— ⎰ NOTES.⎱
― Avatar was my shit and I want to see this so bad. There should be a part one before he was frozen and then after. Aang is super childish and he probably annoys Steve a little but Steve lowkey loves him.
