Chapter Six

Nova and Ajeea ran to the edge of the cliff and looked over and Talion started climbing down the cliff.

Nova said, "He can't have survived that drop! He can fly like us but he's also totally blind!"

"Don't give up on our cousin yet" Ajeea said "he's like Durnaa tougher than we realise".

"He's totally blind!" Nova said, she jumped off and glided down followed by Ajeea to where Talion was, digging in the snow.

"He's under here" Talion said "I can feel him".

"Is he still alive?" Nova asked.

"I think so, and he's radiating heat like nothing else, it's as if his body is warming him from the inside, here have a look yourselves" they did with their night vision, which allowed them all to see into the infrared.

"We'll dig him out!" Nova said.

Talion nodded and started digging they found the dead body of the Wailer it's neck and back was broken, and then they found Sunlazer, he was unconscious, but he was warm as if he was burning up from the inside although outwardly he seemed unharmed.

Talion gave Sunlazer a shake amazed at how warm he was, Sunlazer coughed and opened his eyes "what happened?" he asked, they saw his heat signature go back to normal.

"You fell off a cliff" Talion replied.

"The cat?"

"Dead" Talion said "how about you? are you Ok?"

Sunlazer nodded "I think so, I'm a bit grazed though but Ok".

"Amazingly you aren't frostbitten or frozen" Talion said "Sunlazer you were practically burning up it was as if your body was putting out massive heat!"

Sunlazer asked "it was?"

"Yeah it was like there was a fever in your body, but it wasn't like a fever or anything" Talion said "who or what are you Sunlazer?"

"Why do you ask?" Sunlazer asked.

"Your like Durnaa aren't you? special?" Talion said.

Sunlazer frowned "I don't think so, as to who I am, you already know, I am Prince Sunlazer Sunfire, Prince of the Phoenix clan of the Fire Mountains, my father is Prince Saradin Sunfire and my mother was Princess Athena Midnite-Sunfire once of the Midnite clan" he raised his arm and Screech flew down onto his arm.

* Mindfriend alive! Mindfriend unharmed! * the bird sent.

Sunlazer patted Screech "I'm fine Screech, thought you had lost me huh?" he asked.

* Screech thought Mindfriend dead * Screech said, although the birds of Crasolia were as intelligent as any other animal, their vocal abilities were somewhat more limited, most of them couldn't speak verbally although all could send.

* Bondmate alive? Bondmate Ok?" came Redtips sending, they all looked up and saw three wolves' heads looking over the cliff, their eyes glowing.

Nova waved and said, "we're fine" they all started to go back up when suddenly they all heard a voice.

"So, you come?" it was a man's voice, "come to rescue the Princeling? you maybe alright now but not for long!" it seemed to come from all around them and they all looked up for its source, when Ajeea spied a dark cloaked figure standing on a cliff, limed by the moonlight.

"The Vampire!" Ajeea said, then he called "Let Durnaa Go! or we'll come for you! as we are three!"

"Do you think I would let your brother go?!" the voice continued "think again little Princeling! the only way I let your brother go is if your father meets my terms otherwise his days and yours are numbered".
