The Midnites-Vampire

Chapter Eight

Nova turned to her three companions "so how do we get in?"

"We may have to break the door down" Ajeea said "and make our way up to the higher levels".

"We should go to the crypt first" Talion said "he is a vampire, he needs to sleep during the day".

"Ok the crypt first, where would that be?" Ajeea asked.

"Probably under the fort" he said.

"And Durnaa?"

"He'll probably be on the higher levels" Talion said "but it will be best if we destroyed the vampire first than concentrate on locating Durnaa".

"Ok" they all said.

"Let's go!" Ajeea said "there don't seem to be any guards on the walls".

"He probably thinks he don't need any" Talion said "but I still advise that we move cautiously".

"Maybe he has Gargoyles or something" Nova said.

"Yeah" Ajeea said unsheathing his sword "let's go!"

They all pulled out their weapons, even Sunlazer who had a knife, Talion handed Sunlazer some of the stakes.

"For the vampires" he told the blind boy "have you got anything other than that staff and knife to protect you?"

"Only my sword and I'm not that great on it" Sunlazer replied.
"Keep it handy" Talion said 'and stay with me and the wolves".

"Yes Talion" Sunlazer said sliding off his horse and tying him up as they all did.

Ajeea tied Durnaa's horse up and patted it "we'll get him back" he promised.

Horses on Crasolia like most animals could talk but they generally didn't, the horse dipped his head, Ajeea patted it again.

Ajeea tied his own horse up as well and said to Nova "we'll have to leave the horses here".

Nova nodded "Ok" she pointed to Redtip "what about the wolves?"

"They come with us" Ajeea said quietly.

"Ok" Nova said.

"We may need them" he said, "and we'll retrieve Whitesocks on the way in".

"Ok" Nova said, shouldering her pack "let's go!"

The four teenagers walked down the incline to the Fortress, Whitesocks saw them and came running up, yipping happily.

"Bondmate in building!" the wolf said, "bad man got him!"

Nova patted the wolf "we know".

They all heard hisses suddenly and they all looked up and around and gasped in shock they were surrounded by Gargoyles.

"Oh No!" Ajeea said "we didn't see them!"

The Gargoyles attacked, Ajeea pulled out his sword and started to attack as the wolves and Screech.

He got up against a Gargoyle, who was holding a wickedly curved sword and was using it expertly.

Ajeea ducked out of the way, as all his sword training paid off, like all the young heirs he had been trained in weapons, since he had been old enough, they all had from Firebird up, even little Firebird was being trained in a staff and sling, as she was still too young to train of a sword.

Durnaa had also been trained in weapons as well and when it came to the sword he was as good as his triplet brother and sister.

Sunlazer pulled out his staff and started fighting as well, saying to Screech "be my eyes!" as did Nova who had her mother's blade.
