The Midnites-Vampire

Chapter Nine

Down in the crypt the four companions had gotten in and were making their way through the mausoleum, trying to find where the head vampire slept and dispose of him and then find Durnaa.

Talion had lit a lamp and had pulled the stakes out ready to kill any vampire that threatened him and his friends.

The crypt was dim and dark and smelt of rot and mold, rats skittered out of the way as did other creepy-crawlies.

"Ugh!" Nova said looking around "what a horrid place!"

"It's been unused for years that's for sure!" Talion said.

"Imagine wanting to bunk down here?" Ajeea said.

"He's a vampire he doesn't care where he bunks down, just as long as it's hidden, remote and protected from the sun" Talion said.

"I sure hope Durnaa isn't in here" Nova said, "I don't think I could stand destroying my little brother".

"We'll have to if he's been turned" Talion said "I'll do it though".

"I don't think Durnaa will have been turned" Ajeea said "we'd know otherwise".

"How can you be so sure?" Talion asked.

"Our bond to Durnaa would let us know" Ajeea said.

"You sure seem to place a lot of faith in something that is intangible" Talion said to the two.

"We are linked closer to Durnaa than by blood alone" he said.

"You sure about that?" he asked.

Ajeea nodded "Yes".

"Ok then" he said, "so your pretty sure Durnaa is not down here?"

"Yes" Ajeea said.

"Ok if you say so" Talion said "you're the triplets".

Ajeea nodded "we would know if Durnaa had been turned".

"Good!" Talion said "because your bond may come into effect".

Ajeea nodded "yeah".

"I hope it rings true" he said.

"It will" he said.

"Let's go destroy us some vampires" Talion said.

"Yeah" Nova said.

They walked into the crypt proper, bats flew in their faces "EEEK!" Nova said in surprise as some bats flew into her face.

"Look!" Ajeea said "lamps!" he said a soft word, made a gesture and all of them came alive.

"Neat!" Talion said indicating the lamps.

"It's a simple spell" Ajeea said "come on let's hit the vamps!"

Sunlazer caught up to his cousin and said, "wait for me! you three walk so fast!"

Talion said "try to keep up with us Sunlazer, we can't afford to lose you in the crypt".

"I know" Sunlazer said.

They came across the main area of the crypts, in niches on the wall there were moldering skeletons, some were nothing more than bleached bones.

"This is a gloomy place" Nova said.

In the sarcophagi, vampires always sleep in huge sarcophagi" Talion said.

"Why?" Sunlazer asked.

"Because their vampires" he said.

Sunlazer said "I'm sorry, I must seem a total innocent".

Talion said "you're a prince, you have all been pretty sheltered all your lives, especially you Sunlazer".
