I lost track of time in a blur of classes, homework, torture, and starvation. We had almost no food by the time December came. I skipped at least two meals a day. On the second to last night before the end of the term, Neville and I snuck down to the Room of Requirement.
"You ready?" Neville whispered, elbowing me just below my broken rib.
"I'm terrified. Anything could go wrong."
"Let's try not to think about that." I pushed open the door to the Room of Requirement.
"Ready?" Luna asked as we entered.
"As ready as we'll ever be," I said. We left the room and rushed to Snape's office.
Luna stood guard as Neville and I entered the office. As it turned out, Snape had gotten rid of the password, so we could get in without guesswork.
"Look, Ginny! There it—"
"Ah ha!" Neville had been cut of by a voice behind us. Snape. "That will be a detention for you, Weasley, and Lovegood. But not with the Carrows. They have their hands full at the moment. You will be serving detention with Hagrid in the forest at 7:30 tomorrow."
Neville and I looked at each other. Honestly, I was a bit relieved that we got caught. What would Snape have done when he saw it was gone? Detention at 7:30 tomorrow with Hagrid. "But, sir, that's past curfew!"
"Well, then. I guess that you'll have to be out past curfew!" Snape smiled slyly. "It's obvious that you don't have an aversion to being out too late, do you, Miss Weasley. Now, off to your common rooms! Now!"
