Tom's POV

I took one last sip of my coffee before I pulling myself up to my full height and make my way back home. It was a lovely day today so I chose not to take the car and walk to training instead. It's been a long while since I since I walked on my own and today was a good for walking. Anyway it's a nice change of scenery and I have sometime to think things through.

I thought of one person and one person only. A girl I met today. A girl like none other I have met before.

''Hi Tom" Someone said as they walk past, I nodded and smiled in response but I was not really paying attention. How can I when my mind was preoccupied with thoughts concerning a girl that was clearly out of my league? Erin is definitely out of my league.

When I first step into that cafe, everyone's eyes was on me. It reminds me of when I'm about to dive from the 10metre platform. I was alone and no one can help me, the platform makes me feel slightly vulnerable as everyone's eyes are on me. One would think I would be use to the attention, but to be perfectly honest I'm not. I don't think I'll ever will be too. It's funny now that I think about it. People always ask me what do I make of the attention I recieve? It's so interesting how differently people react to me. Some are too cool to come over and say hi but I can tell they're looking. Others come up, scream in my my face and start shaking. But this girl, she's calm and collected as if nothing bothers her.

Anyway, a lone figure caught my eyes when I was in the cafe, sure I wanted to find a seat away from the crowd and the eyes of everyone but I couldn't help it but take the seat opposite her. She was sat next to a window, natural light streaming in and catching the natural highlights in her long wavy hair. She was not paying attention to anything but her laptop and once and a while she would tear her eyes away from the screen and flip a page from one of the text books that was cluttering the wooden table.

"Here you are Tom, a double expresso just the way you like it" the waitress at the counter, Sarah, I think her name is, handed me my coffee. I made my way to the the girl's table and sat opposite her.

She was prettier up close and I couldn't help but stare. She had fair skin and bright green eyes - not emerald, warmer and more vibrant than that, and fringed with dark long lashes. She had a few freckles dotted over her face and it made her even look cuter. I couldn't get her off my mind since then.

But what I really liked about her was that she didn't know who I was. I think she know of me but didn't really know who I was. I don't mind - in fact it's why I'm attracted to her.

Oh boy, I'm screwed. I falling for a girl that was out of my league and there is nothing I can really do about it.

I couldn't help but smile when I remembered that I slipped a napkin into one of her fancy books with my number and a note on it. Hopefully, she will contact me.

"Mum, I'm home" I said as I walked into the house. I could hear my brothers Ben and William playing on the X-box upstairs. William gave a roar of thriumph which I take that he won yet another game. Ben, being the youngest of us three, just sighed in defeat and demanded a rematch.

"I'm in the kitchen, Tom" Mum responded.

Taking a seat at the table and watching Mum make lunch for my brothers, my face took a pondering air that made my Mum stop and inquire what I was thinking about.

"Nothing much Mum" I responded

"You met someone didn't you" she smiled at me expertly.

"What?"

"Don't deny it dear, I can see it in your eyes. Your dad use to have the same spark in his eyes" she patted my shoulder and went back to making lunch for the boys.

"Boys! Lunch!" she called out and a moment later a thunder of footsteps came running down the stairs and the boys came storming in.

"What you thinking about Tom?" one of the boys said. I just waved their question off and made my way to my room.

Before I entered my room I could hear the medals, medals I won from over the years, swing gently in the wind in Dad's office. Even though, his office was no longer in use, we didn't have the heart to touch it. Everything in there was as it was when he was still around.

"What should I do Dad?" I said to myself softly. As if it was a sign from Dad, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Fishing it out from my pocket, I look at my phone and I had a new message from an unknown number. I smiled once I read it and realised who it was from. Maybe, just maybe, she wasn't out of my league after all.

'I never had the chance to say Good Luck for this Summer's Games x -E'
