Tom's POV
The fortnight of competition in Australia was a blur. It was the second international competition of the year and it went well. Out of the British Team, Pete and I competed first in the synchronised diving. the competition was tough as ever. The Chinese pair made a comeback once more and dominated the leader board. they were diving perfectleay and Pete and I managed to just scrape the silver medal position behind the Chinese pair and above the Australian pair.
The Team cheered us on with Tonia and Brooke attempting to cheerlead beside the pool. Andy flashed them a warning look and they sat down almost immediately like two naughty school children.
In between the events the divers and I attended a five day training camp during the day and hang out with the other divers from different parts of the world.
An American diver, Kassidy Cook, joined us one day whilst we were just chilling down the beach where Team GB and I did a cover of LMFAO's Sexy And I Know It last year. It was good fun doing that cover and it took many shots and several days to perfect it because we all burst out laughing whilst lip synching to the song.
Kassidy was good fun, always up for a laugh and we managed to throw her into the sea before we all legged it. she was screaming her head off and she came up sputtering before chasing Chris, Jack and I down the beach.
On the day of the individual events, Pete injured his shoulder so he pulled out of the finals much to his dismay. Even though he's a lot older than me, Pete was someone I always looked up to and there is always a bit of friend competition between us to spur us on.
Half way through the competition I was leading after my inward 3 and half sommersault which scored my first perfect tens of the season. After that dive, adrenaliine was pumping into my blood willing me on and putting pressure on the other divers.
The crowd erupted in applause when it finally sunk in that I got the gold medal when one of the last divers went into the water over vertical and left a big splash behind them. I didn't sink in at first but as soon as the commentator said my name, the rest of my team pounced on me and threw me into the pool like the way they did in the London Games.

"Have fun!" Taylor waved at us brightly as I tried to pull out from the space infront of the house, quite early in the morning. I just arrived from the airport the day before and tried to get as much sleep as I could for the drive up to the Lake District.
"Have you really never been to the Lake District?" Erin looked at me with the wind blowing through her hair as I pulled the top of the car down because it was such a lovely day.
"Never." I replied.
"I use to go there every summer. My Grandparents would take my friends and I for weeks on end and we just use to do all sorts. horse riding, hicking up the mountains and swimming in the lakes" Erin laughed as she recalled her childhood.
"One time we went hiking up the hills, it was blistering hot in the morning and rain all afternoon. My friend Casey, wore this little bikini thing but somehow I was the one who got stung by nettles. I never said a word until Casey caught me scratching my back side and she had to rubbed it with a dock leaf to bring down the swelling. Never again will I hike up those hills!" Erin burst out laughing and I couldn't help but smile at her.
"Remind me to keep dock leaf handy then." I chuckled. I was happy that she was no longer in her quiet mood like the way she was when I left for Australia.
"How was Australia anyway?"
"It was good. We had to attend a five day training camp before hanging out on the beach"
"No lip synching with dodgy moves to pop songs, this time around?"
"How did you find that one out?" I burst out laughing when she mention the cover we did to LMFAO
"Taylor showed me actually" she chuckled "you maybe a genius at diving but you really need to practice your lip synching skills."
" 'When I walk on by, girls be looking like damn he fly' " I pretended to sing along but stopped as I got funny looks from the other drivers.
"You better stick to diving!" Erin said in between breathes for she was laughing so hard
"Cheeky!"
