Kids POV: Melissa
It was really confusing in here. People were shouting things and kids on chains were being taken off and on the walls. And some people give green paper for kids that I'v seen mommy and daddy with. I miss them. I don't like this place! I just want to go home. I cover my ears when a man next to me shouts numbers. They sound like numbers anyway. I can't count that high. But soon I'm taken from the wall and a man takes me out of the building. I tug a little on his shirt and his looks down at me like I need a time out. "Are you taking me home?" I asked with hope. And I'm very very very very very happy when he says,"Yes." "Thank you." I said. But he wasn't as nice as I thought. He told me this,"Listen kid, you're coming to my home. And there you learn to become a ser- I mean... Cinderella before the bipity-bopity-boo. And if you don't then I'll hit you really hard with a belt! I'm your new daddy!" I think about it as tears started to come in my eyes. But Mr. Mean threw me in the back of his truck and put a huge dark cover thing over it. Then I felt the truck moving. I started to cry a lot and the truck stopped. Mr.Mean lifted a piece of the cover and punched me. It hurt so much that I miss Rebecca's punches. The truck started moving again and I could see myself on the floor. My right eye was ugly and black. And I can't open it. I see a little light at the stop of the cover and go to it. I peeked into it and saw the sky! I could go away from here! I try to rip it but I couldn't. But I found a big pair of scissors! I cut the cover until I fit through. I turn to see if the guy sees me. When I see he didn't, I climb out and go over to the side ready to jump. When me and Rebecca play cops, she'd say, "Tuck and roll!" before we roll out of our car. I was about to jump when a car honked behind me and shouted something. Mr. Mean looked and saw me and started to slow down. But I jumped. I tucked really quick and rolled down hill. I got up in pain. But I got scared and ran in woody places. I kept running until I was too tired. Then I just fell on the ground, asleep. But I wasn't sleepy. I don't know what happened after that.
