Adaline
It was quiet as Harry and I moved at a slow pace through the tall grass. The horses huffing every once in awhile. The silence among us is comfortable. A small smile is etched on my face.
"What?" Harry's voice pulls me from my thoughts.
"Hm?" I turn to him and see he's already looking at me. His green eyes vibrant.
"What are you thinking about?" His curiously genuine.
"This is peaceful." I state. "I haven't felt at peace in a long time. Maybe things are finally going to get better." I look ahead of us, using it as an excuse to not hold eye contact. I've never been good at that.
"They are." Harry slows his horse as we come to a small creek with willow trees lining it. He jumps from his horse, tying it up and walks to me, helping me down. "You have me now." He grins.
I smile at him, kissing him softly as he places me on the damp ground. I felt as though we hadn't had a chance to enjoy one another's company since Nathan came back. I wasn't sure how long this little haven would last, so I would savor every moment we had. We pulled away and Harry grabbed my horse by the reins and tied it next to the other.
Walking back over to me, he grabbed my hand and lead me down the small hill to the edge of the creek. I sat on a nearby tree trunk, watching the water flow gently.
"It's beautiful here." I spoke.
"It is." Harry agreed, sitting beside me.
"What were your parents like?" I asked, my curiosity getting the best of me.
"My parents?" He looked over at me. "It's been a long time since I've really thought about them." He trailed off, his voice getting quiet.
"I'm sorry." I was cut off by Harry shaking his head.
"It's okay. Really I don't mind." He started. "Like I told you, they passed when I was young. My mum was a very strong headed person. She had her opinions and stuck to them. She was also very brave. My father passed away a few weeks before her, I remember how she tried her best to take care of us, but sent us away when she got ill as well. She didn't want us to get it. Last time I saw her she was laying in bed, couldn't hardly get up."
I bit the inside of my cheek, holding back tears that threatened to spill. The way he spoke about her was so full of love.
"My father was very hardworking. Your own father reminds me a lot of him. I think that's why I enjoy being around him. He loved teaching me to build things. Those wooden rocking chairs on my porch are the ones my father and I made years ago. You can definitely tell which is mine. It's horribly made." He let out a laugh.
"Oh I doubt that. You have a real talent for that." I looked up at him. His green eyes searching mine.
"You're stunning Adaline." His voice was quiet.
A small smile rested on my lips. "As are you."
He raised a brow at me.
"You are." I argued. "Harry Styles, you are a stunning person."
"Why thank you. I try." He laughed loudly. The sound filling my heart.
He placed his hand over mine. We sat like that for a moment before I pulled away, standing in front of him. I reached down, pushing his hair from his face so I could see him better. "You need a haircut." I concluded.
