The train is undeniably silent for the entire ride. Unless the analyzing stare from Prince Kaius towards Milan counts as noise.
And Milan would argue it does because she'd much prefer hearing his annoying voice than feel his creepy eyes crawling over her skin.
"Excuse me, sir-Kai, will I be informed where we're heading before we arrive?" Milan asks. If she's going to guard him and be the only guard for the crown prince she needs to be well equipped and prepared for anything.
His face contorts in thought, calculating her words and searching for the right ones on his own behalf. Legs uncross from underneath him and he leans forward, elbows resting on either knee as he moves his gaze more intent on her.
"I'm not sure that I will tell you at all." He says bluntly.
She blinks, utterly confused. It's a near-impossible task for her to act as someone's guard and not know the job well, or at all.
"Not sure how well you expect to be protected when I'm not even aware of what you're to be protected from!" She exasperatedly yells, throwing her hands up.
Kaius moves his lips upwards into a sly grin, hands folded on his lap as he assesses Milan for the umpteenth time on the ride. "My father trusts you, Milan. My father doesn't trust easily. That being said I believe you will be able to protect me from anything that may come my way regardless of the fact that you are unaware of my endeavors."
"Well, thank you." She flushes a little at the hint of respect in his words. "And not that I doubt myself but I'd feel much better if you gave me a little bit more of...detail."
He rolls his eyes, snatching the glass of whiskey from the table beside him and throwing the last drink between his lips.
Milan watches his features darken as he relishes in the burn the alcohol provides.
"I've already made my decision. And you've made one of your own as well, Milan," he says, matter-of-factly.
She raises her brows up at him. "What does that mean?"
"You made the decision to accompany me. You agreed to it. No one forced your hand to play as my guard for the night, no, that was fully and completely your decision, Milan. Thus being the choice you made. So, stop arguing and do as I say. For tonight, I am the boss of you."
He pauses to check the watch hugging his wrist.
She scoffs, about to spit out an ugly retort that should knock him off his high horse and back to reality but he's standing up and trekking towards the door of the cabin.
"Uh, where are you going?" She asks, straightening up on the edge of her seat.
He turns the knob. "It seems we've arrived at our destination." And with that, he walks out of the room and closes the door behind him. Leaving a baffled yet fumed Milan in his wake.

"What exactly are we looking for?" Neil asks, trailing squarely behind Aurora.
"Rainbows," Aurora says dryly. She pauses and turns to Neil. "Are you stupid?"
He feigns shock. "Do you honestly believe you calling me stupid effects me?"
Aurora rolls her eyes, turns back around and continues her strut down the streets.
"Just keep your radar up. Miller said a bunch of customers were complaining about a 'dead animal smell' out here."
"There are no animals in Witzen. Legally speaking."
After vampires started leeching out blood from domestic animals and spilling their bodies all over town, it became law in Witzen that no animals—whatsoever—were allowed. Even wild ones. Like birds for example. Billions of birds lay refuge on Earth and you see close to none in the town.
