The girl sat down, taking her coat off, curling up on a small cushioned chair near the radiator, putting her hands over it to warm them. Threadbare fingerless gloves show red skin that was raw from the cold. The hood revealed a pale girl with chestnut coloured waves and rosy cheeks. The man who was sat at the bar, the one with the platinum locks that had been crimped one too many times, looked back with slight interest as to who the mysterious figure that had dashed into the bar was. She looked back at him skittishly with wide green eyes. He turned back to the bar with a hidden smile and a gesture to the tender. An agreeable nod, he poured a small glass. Honey Jack Daniels with lemonade. The bartender walked over to the table the girl sat and placed it down onto a stained paper coaster advertising some generic brand of beer. She watched as he walked back to the bar and began to polish up glasses. She looked at her drink for a little while. She didn't ask for anything, so why had she been given a drink? "Enjoy." said a voice with a familiar accent as the man with the bleached blonde hair made his way over and took a seat.
"Did you order me this?" She asked anxiously.
"Relax, I'm not trying to make a pass, I just figured you could use a drink, because you look like you've had it pretty rough, no offence..."
"None taken... what's your game?" She says, taking a cautious sip. The man shrugged. "Nothing, I'm just a generous man... the name's Martin by the way, Martin Gore."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Alex. Just Alex."
"Well, you look hungry 'just Alex' so... would you like to grab something to eat?"
"Sorry, not to sound rude or ungrateful, but I don't know you, you're a stranger and I don't feel comfortable going off with you. Thanks for the drink Martin." She said, slamming back the rest of her JD and lemonade before setting the empty glass down. She goes to put her coat and satchel back on, ready to leave, when Martin says something. "Wait." He goes, holding a hand up. He grabs his wallet from his jacket pocket and pulls two twenty pound notes out, putting them in Alex's hand. "You're cold, hungry and you obviously don't have a place to stay. Go get something to eat, and get a room at the Inn down the road for a couple nights." He said. The girl stammered awkwardly. She hesitantly took the money. "Jesus Martin, I don't know what to say, thank you!"
"Don't worry about it, if you really wanna thank me, come back here around 7 PM tomorrow, come talk to me... it's nice to talk to someone who doesn't know me." He said, trace of melancholy in his voice. He looks down. "Thanks... I'll see you tomorrow then..." Alex said, anxiously approaching him and giving him a peck on the cheek. She did not see the shy and embarrassed blush creep up onto Martin's face.
