Chapter Twenty

America's point of view

It has been two day and I still haven't heard anything from Maxon.

I know he is busy is New Asia, but I'm starting to worry.

He promised he would call, and he is not one to break a promise.

I decide to call the New Asian palace. If I can't get a hold of him, I will have to try something else. I just need to make sure everything is alright.

It rings for a minute. I play with the chord.

"Hello?" I hear.

"Hello, this is Queen America, is this King Jax?" I ask.

"Yes. What is this concerning?" He asks.

"I haven't heard from my husband since he left, and I just want to make sure everything is going well." I say.

"Oh, yes. We are having some....trouble..but I think it will all turn out well and we will find a compromise." He says.

"Can I speak with him?" I ask.

"He is...uh...he is busy right now. I will tell him you called." He says.

"Thankyou-"

Before I finish he hangs up.

That was weird. Well I guess Maxon is just busy.

But something isn't sitting right. I just have this weird feeling in my stomach.

Oh well. I am just being paranoid.

Maxons point of view

I have been in this cell for two days now. America is probably starting to worry.

How did this happen? She told me not to come. She told me it was too dangerous. But did I listen? And now I'm stuck in a cell and the only way to get out is to promise our first boy to this horrible king.

She would be so mad if I did that.

I would be mad if I did that.

How am I going to get out of here? I should have taken more guards.

Where is Aspen? Do they have him locked up somewhere?

I couldn't leave him here, if somehow I get out.

America would start a war to get him back.

She is very loyal.

That is one of things I love about her. Along with many others.

I hear a noise towards the door. King Jax approaches in front of me.

"So, have you made a decision yet?" He asks.

"Yes. I told you, I will not give you our first boy." I say sternly.

He remind me of my father. And if my father taught me anything it was to show authority and don't back down.

"Well, then looks like you will be visiting for a while." He says.

"Oh, and your wife called. She wanted to make sure everything was okay." He adds.

America called? She must be worried that I haven't gotten in touch with her yet.

"Would be a shame if there was an attack on the palace.." he say.

I clench my fists.

No one threatens America's safety without massive consequences.

"If you dare-"

"I would watch my mouth if I were you." He says.

"If you dare go near my wife I will personally kill you!" I shout.

I don't know where that came from.

That's the side of me I get from my father.

He just turns and walks out.

How dare he threaten America? I can deal with him wanting our first child. Even throwing me in a cell. But I will no allow him to harm her.

I hear another noise.

"Maxon?" I hear.

"Who's there?" I question.

Who could it be.

I see aspen come out into view.

"Oh my God. America is going to kill me!" He says.

I chuckle.

"Yes, well, do you know how to get me out?" I ask.

"Well I don't really have a plan, I've been looking for you all this time." He explains.

I'm glad I brought him with. America is so smart.

We hear noise from behind us.

"I thought I saw someone come down here. Guards lock him up too!" King Jax shouts.

Guards walk up and out Aspen in the cell next to mine. I can't see him anymore due to the wall between us.

Now I feel horrible. Now I feel bad that he came too.

We have to get out of here.

King Jax and his guards walk out.

This is just wonderful. I need to stay positive.

I just try to think about America. Her smile and laugh. And suddenly I feel better.

This is going to be rough.
