Chapter twenty six

America's point of view

Today is the day we are going to try to get in contact with the princess of New Asia. This is our last hope in fixing the problems between our countries, and she is the most understanding.

Even if she agrees to help, we don't have a game plan. She can't exactly just overthrow the king. But getting her to agree is step one in the right direction.

"You are required in the meeting room," a maid tells me with a bow.

I make my way there. I know once I'm there we will make the call to the princess. I take a deep breath and hope it will work.

I open the door and all the advisors in the room quiet down. Maxon is sitting at the head of the chair with my empty chair next to him, and a telephone in front of us.

I make my spot to my chair. As I take a look at the room, I notice we need more woman advisors. Maybe that will bring some sense to the meetings. I shake my head and chuckle at the thought. I would have to talk to Maxon about that.

I sit and Maxon gives me a look that asks if I am ready. I nod my head slightly.

"We will call the palace and request to speak with the princess. What happens after that, is still unknown, but this is the plan," Maxon says.

It's still strange hearing the difference in the voice he uses as king and the one he uses when talking with me.

He picks up the phone and presses some buttons the holds it up. He puts it between he and I up to our ears.

I play with the cord. We here a little buzz, until someone says, "Hello, you have reached the palace of New  Asia,"

"Hello, I need to speak with the princess please," Maxon says.

"This is just the kitchen number sir. You must be someone of importance to have a palace number, I can give the phone to the king if you would like," she says.

"No! I mean, I just need to speak with the princess please." He says.

"Alright then....just one moment, she is in her study," she says. The line is quiet for a little while.

Then the princess answers, "Hello, this is princess Lucy, may I ask who is speaking?" She asks politely.

"Hello Lucy," Maxon said.

"King Maxon?? You made it back to Illea safely?" She asked.

"Yes, thanks to you," he said.

We really did owe her so much.

"My father has been questioning everyone trying to figure out how you and..Aspen..I think it was..escaped. It's been so tense around the palace," she says.

"Yes, that is sort of what I have called you about today..." he says.

"What do you mean?" She asks.

"We want to...well..how do I put this..." he stammers.

I lean in towards the phone. "We want to somehow have you as queen as soon as possible. We would be totally willing to make allies of your country if you were to rule, but I can not be allies with the man who locked up my husband, you must understand that," I say.

"Yes, Queen America, I totally understand that. My father is an irrational man, who doesn't deserve to rule New Asia," Princess Lucy says.

"You can call me America. And yes, that is is exactly why we need you to take over as ruler of the country," I say.

"Well, is there a plan? I am willing to go along," Princess Lucy said.

"Well....no..because we didn't know if you would agree to this or not, so we haven't gotten that far," I say.

"But we will have a plan soon," Maxon adds.

"Well, whenever you need me, I am here. Call anytime, just make sure to call this number. If you call the main one the call will go straight to my father." She warns.

"Of course, thank you Princess," I say.

"Anytime, I'm always here," she said.

With that we hung up.

"She is so mature for her age," I said to maxon.

"I know, she reminds me of May sometimes," he replies.

We made our way to lunch.

"We need to start thinking of a plan," Maxon says as we lay down for bed.

"Yes. We should get some ideas from the advisors, even though we both know how much of a help they are," I say sarcastically.

"We need some women advisors," Maxon says.

"I totally agree. We can have some interviews tomorrow after we come up with a plan," I reply.

"I love you," he says.

"I love you too,"
