Maxon's POV

"Maxon, you need to get some rest," I heard Carter say. "Marley asked me to come check on you.  She says as America's best friend it's her job to make sure her husband doesn't lose his mind worrying,"

America has been out for three days. Her doctor said she should be waking up soon. As many times as they try to reassure me, I won't be at ease until she is awake again.

"I don't need to rest, I'm fine," I mumbled.

I played with her fingers in my hand.  I hadn't left this chair for days exept to use the restroom. I had all meals brought here. I couldn't leave her for a second.

"Maxon, she would want you to keep yourself together, that means taking care of yourself,"

"I don't care about myself right now, she is the most important person to me," I said shortly, starting to break the "I'm fine" face I had put on for the last couple days.

"I get that, I do, but she would kill you if she knew you gave up on yourself because she wasn't here,"

"I SAID IM FINE!" I shouted. He looked startled, and yet soon returned to comforting. He walked towards me. He reached his arm out and I stood up. He embraced me and I felt the tears.

"I just..I don't know what I would do without her...she's my whole life..she's the reason for every decision I make.. she's the first and last thought I have every day, her and our children.."

"I know, trust me, I have a wife and child too. If I was hurt though and heard she drove herself crazy the whole time it wouldn't make anything better," he said.

"I just-" my voice broke. "I can't do any of this without her."

"Yes, we have our fights and we are both too stubborn for our own good sometimes, but there's no one else in the world who comes anywhere near completing me as she does," I managed to get out.

"It'll all work out," he said.

"But what if it doesn't?" I asked. "You don't get too many miracles in life. And I'm afraid I've already used mine. The first was finding her, the second surviving the bullet I took, and third, the twins. I've never had much luck, and I'm afraid I've used all that was left." I said.

"Maxon, do you know who you married? Keep in mind, this isn't her first time being shot. The night in the selection you snuck out remember? She didn't quit then, and she won't quit now,"

He could tell I wasn't convinced.

"It will all work out, she is a fighter." He said.

"Thank you."

Marley's POV

I sent Carter in there hours ago to get Maxon moving around again, but he hasn't budged. I have to get him to move even if it's just around the room.

I have the perfect idea. I grab a maid and make my way to the nursery. We grab the twins and make our way to the hospital wing.
