The next day at school feels completely different for you.
You look around in History, seeing Kousei siting near the front.
He's sitting beside Tsubaki.
You know they're good friends and that she's totally in love with him.
You suddenly have a distraction in your class.
Him.
You really want to talk to Kousei, but you know you can't leave your assigned seat.
You begin to fidget with your pencil, eventually drawing random eyes on your lined paper instead of taking notes.
Minutes later, at the corner of your eye, you catch a pair of eyes look at you.
You notice it's Kousei.
He smiles and turns his attention back to the front.
Did... did he just look at you? And smile?
You can't help but smile to yourself.
You then see Tsubaki turn around and glare at you.
You don't glare back, not wanting to get on her bad side, though you may already be on it...
After class, Kousei stops you at the door.
"Hey. I wanted to thank you again, for, y'know... helping get my mind off things yesterday." He says quietly.
"Oh, yeah! No problem!" You say. You're afraid you'll stutter on your words if you say anything more.
"Do you wanna... practice piano every Monday after school?" He asks.
You nod.
He smiles and opens his mouth to say something else, but Tsubaki grabs onto his arm and pulls him away.
"Come on, Kousei! You promised you'd watch my softball game!" She says.
"Ah! Okay okay!"
You sigh.
You know Tsubaki is super protective of Kousei...
You turn around and walk the opposite direction of them, eventually reaching the courtyard.
You walk off school property, and head for the bus stop.
Almost no students take your bus.
You put your earbuds in, and throw your hands in the pocket of your grey blazer.
The road is quiet today...
...
You look up at the cherry blossom the bus stop stands under.
