"FIT IT. (Fake It 'Til It's True)"
[American Wolves: Jack Hectør Wolf • Michaela Maya Watson]
Hold on to your heart, this is not a test
Choose well your words, 'cause this is not a test
It's time to decide whether group you'll stay
For the rest of your life, and if you are different, babe
Then fake it 'til it's true, fake it 'til it's true
Someday they'll believe you are like them too
Fake it 'til it's true, fake it 'til it's true
Someday you'll act like a society prisoner too
You know, I tried for a long time to be a good Christ soldier
Just like all my childhood friends also were
But once I found myself, I couldn't take this weight on my shoulders
No longer, no longer, I couldn't handle that suffer anymore
I tried to fake my reflection, so everyone could see a different me
A different version of the man I was trying fucking hard to be
Tried to hear their prayers, tried to like their worship songs
But something in my heart was giving alert signs, "you're alone
Are you mad, Jack? Are you trying to destroy yourself inside?
'Cause when you try to find yourself in them, you lose your life
'Cause when you try to reach Jesus, you only lose yourself in the middle"
So now I'm afraid of give two steps back in religion and let everything go
Hold on to your heart, this is not a test
Choose well your words, 'cause this is not a test
It's time to decide whether group you'll stay
For the rest of your life, and if you are different, babe
Then fake it 'til it's true, fake it 'til it's true
Someday they'll believe you are like them too
Fake it 'til it's true, fake it 'til it's true
Someday you'll act like a society prisoner too
Another night, another shot in the dark
I'd much rather be taking shots at a bar
But I have to stay here, and pretend I'm okay
Telling the truth would make my life quite easier
Instead, I just try to put up with those cheaters
And pretend there's nothing wrong with it
Faking smiles and faking everything else
Faking smiles, but being true when I say I can't stand myself
Stop asking me to talk it through, like you care
It's all fun and games until we have to fuck with reality
The calm before the storms makes me kinda happy
Stop telling me to be okay, you know you couldn't care less
Hold on to your heart, this is not a test
Choose well your words, 'cause this is not a test
It's time to decide whether group you'll stay
For the rest of your life, and if you are different, babe
Then fake it 'til it's true, fake it 'til it's true
Someday they'll believe you are like them too
Fake it 'til it's true, fake it 'til it's true
Someday you'll act like a society prisoner too
Diamond rings and teeth perfectly aligned
There's only chaos behind these smiles
Hold back and see the bigger picture
The brighter, the better, but are you really sure?
Don't you think there's better stuff that you could use?
Stained make up with an expensive dress, I'm sick of it
Disappear before you even see, I just need to hang on a little bit
It's getting dark, and I don't have a ride home
But if I had, I would run and call it shotgun
So I could watch and learn how people fake
Bounds break, relationships collapse
It's just normal life until you start counting steps
Don't try to fit in if you don't give a shit about the stakes
Although they're high, aren't they Jack? (Hell yeah!)
