"Grenade"
[AMERICAN WOLVES: Michaela Maya Watson • Jack Hectør Wolf]
So, it was supposed to be just another poem
But I ended up writing restlessly
Couldn't go outside and spill my guts
And I just stood where I was before
He said "I know what you did"
And I remember hearing myself answering
"It should be just another poem"
They told me "keep driving straight"
But I don't set my clocks early
'Cause I should mention that I'm never late
Oh, seasons change in a minute
And it keeps getting difficult
Before I admit we can't talk face to face
I think I should just stand up and go
'Cause I'm a grenade, my dear love interest
Sometimes I explode without any previous warning
And it may not feel good for you
'Cause I can be a grenade, can't be who you expect
I may run away from hard things before they get me burning
And it may not be good for you
To have someone like me with you
Driving my car, long gray road in front of me
I have a very expected moment of calm after the storm
I used to believe I could only live forever in my dreams
Now I cancelled all my plans, 'cause someone killed these dreams
I run after a happy day in my life, things that I never had
I run from the guns pointed at my head, things that I always had
City of stars, where are you when I need?
Voices on my mind keep saying, "you better explode now"
But the beat of my heart gives me reasons not to die
Yes, I may be a grenade, but I have to take control of myself
Before everything blows away and I lose what I knew better
It's a new day from a new life, but I still feel the old me
Throwing me in hot water, forcing me to choose
Do I tell you the truth or do I light me up like a witch?
'Cause I'm a grenade, my dear love interest
Sometimes I explode without any previous warning
And it may not feel good for you
'Cause I can be a grenade, can't be who you expect
I may run away from hard things before they get me burning
And it may not be good for you
To have someone like me with you
