"Muzzles"
[American Wolves: Jack Wolf • Michaela Maya Watson]
• It contains a quote from the film "NETWORK", distributed on 1976 by MGM.
"I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
(— Howard Beale's line on the film)
Now I'm here and all alone
But I think that I deserve it
No people, no love, no hurt
I can finally let the peace rest in peace
I can set my demons free
And nobody's gonna doom me
I may not be totally conscious
But I've never felt so sure of myself
Sobriety could never fully describe
The way I'm feeling tonight
I'm a motherfucking sinner on the club
I made mistakes again, but no one gives a fuck
This raw feeling is about to come out
And I won't stop it for the first time
I'll let the alcohol go down my throat
You better be ready to mark my words
I kept my mouth shut for time enough
To see all the diseases in the world
My honesty suffered when I was sober
But now I can show it up 'cause I'm high
Don't need no muzzles, no common sense
I came here to reveal what I think
Don't need no muzzles, no common sense
I'm going to follow my own plan
First, I'm not trying to play Jesus
And I believe that no one can be Him
What I do or what I don't do
You'll never understand it if you don't get crazy
Only mad people can explain this world
Once you get high, you don't wanna get low
So if you think your life is perfect
There are 50 sick lives right behind you
It doesn't matter if your lipstick is blurred
It doesn't matter the country where you're living
Rules were made to be broken
But hearts weren't made to be lonely
They say we have to behave badly to get them pleased
But I show my attitude 'cause I don't give a shit
And I'm gonna tell you why
A man isn't the cure for my hopelessness
A man isn't the cure for anything
And now, you're gonna know why
These muzzles no longer can hurt my lips
But the truth doesn't always set us free
So I let my young blood speak for me
I kept my mouth shut for time enough
To see all the diseases in the world
My honesty suffered when I was sober
But now I can show it up 'cause I'm high
Don't need no muzzles, no common sense
I came here to reveal what I think
Don't need no muzzles, no common sense
I'm going to follow my own plan
Playing games with my loaded gun
Come on, Jack, let's have some fun
We're not good at being accepted anyways
We always come in unannounced
You can't see us, but you can hear the sound
Of us taking away these fucking muzzles
I got framed for a crime I did not commit
Woke up in a cage with my finger on the trigger
I don't need to set my demons free
'Cause when you summon the devil, the only thing you see is me
I don't need your help, I'm taking off these muzzles by myself
We were both young when you marked my face for the first time
I thought you would change, I thought you'd make it right
But it only brought more pain
I hate the role I had to play
The apologizes made me stay
But the alcohol took you away
I pretended I didn't see what was coming for me
You told me to shut my mouth, and so I did
But now I guess I'm not yours anymore
I don't belong to anyone, I'm not a gun
I'm gonna lock your ego inside the closet I used to hide in
And I promise, I'm going to swallow the key
The night doesn't sound so scary
With all these drinks up in my head
I'm breaking free from your bullshit
I kept my mouth shut for time enough
To see all the diseases in the world
My honesty suffered when I was sober
But now I can show it up 'cause I'm high
Don't need no muzzles, no common sense
I came here to reveal what I think
Don't need no muzzles, no common sense
I'm going to follow my own plan
