A/N - I'm British, so anything I know about the American school system will be from TV and I will be using British spelling such as "centre", "colour" and "mum" for instance.

"Freshmen, welcome to the first day of the rest of your lives," Principle Metcalf concluded in a booming voice.

The students dispersed through the vast school grounds to get to their next class. Everyone had seemed to change up their style since middle school in a desperate attempt to become new so the corridors were adorned with dress-code violations as far as the eye could see.

In the centre of the hall, a boy with a small frame stood with a friend on either side of him. It wouldn't take a genius to realise that this boy was being overlooked somewhat by these friends. A girl with a short black pixie-cut that stood behind him was asking him for boy advice. Her hand gestures had become very vigorous when expressing her frustration towards a Jonah Beck (who had seemed to be a regular topic of conversation). Upon closer inspection, the girl on the opposite side of Cyrus who wore a very loud backpack and voluminous curly hair was taking a back seat to this other girl.

After the friends hugged and said their goodbyes, the boy with a small frame looked quite disorientated. His doe-like brown eyes were filled with fear and he seemed to miss the familiarity of his friends' voices. Now that they were missing, there was nothing left to mask the terrifying nature of this place.

Whilst he contemplated, his full, dark brows knotted deeply in thought, he felt a force move him to the ground.

As he tilted his head up to see what had happened, he saw a hand outstretched to help him up. He took it and saw the stark contrast between his own and the large palm of this mystery person.

"I'm really sorry about that," The taller boy apologised.

When he glanced down at the brunette, flickers of recognition danced across his retinas.

"Little Muffin?" He asked quizzically. Seeing that the boy looked extremely confused and a little creeped out, he decided to explain. "You're Cyrus Goodman, you went to Little Tots Caterpillar nursery and Jefferson Elementary school where you earned the nickname Little Muffin for being extremely small for your age but sneaking into the cabinet and eating all of the muffins before snack time with your childhood best friend, TJ Kippen." He said, trying to give Cyrus a hint.

Slowly, Cyrus looked up into TJ's warm green eyes and a smile started forming on his lips until his eyes started smiling too. He gave his long-lost friend a warm hug.

The boys walked to their class as though they had never missed a beat and caught up on all the things they had missed.
