***Warning extreme homophobia and slurs ahead. As a recently semi-out bi girl, I've experienced almost all of these. Trigger warning. I do not condone homophobia.***

Cyrus opened up Instagram the next morning and his mouth was agape. There was a new public account that had a few thousand followers that was in his suggested because people from school had followed the account.

And then he saw it.

Pictures of TJ and Cyrus just being they're regularly affectionate selves like the day Cyrus was saddled on TJ's back or their habit of hand-holding when the other was nervous (like when TJ tried-out for the basketball team and was awaiting his results or before Cyrus' dance exam).

But the captions were the most disgusting.

"The captain of the basketball team is a f*ggot turned by the school's wallflower Cyrus Goodman. I mean, I'm lucky, I got out early from those freaks and I'm not in the boys changing room, hiding my genitals and breaking out into a cold sweat in the showers." and

"Cyrus Goodman, look at him. His skeletal frame may as well be him holding up a massive sign saying that he likes to take it up the a*s like the disgusting sl*t that he is."

and "They've been sick since day 1, considering they've been acquainted for quite some time, their almost incestuous "relationship" makes me barf in my mouth. Happy f*g pride month!!!"

Cyrus was used to her hissing about his sexuality around the school's halls. It had taken him 16 years to come to terms with who he was. but TJ? TJ was popular, TJ had probably never experienced this in his life and TJ was straight, right?

He called up his companion, voice shaken. The only thing he was scared of was losing TJ.

"TJ I know it's 6:30 but I need you to come over," he said, biting his lip to avoid excess emotion from spilling out,"

5 minutes later, a dishevelled TJ was knocking at the window.

Cyrus was immediately comforted by TJ's morning hair and his oversized glasses. He opened the window and TJ climbed in.

Cyrus simply showed him the screen that he hadn't managed to pry his eyes off of or the last five minutes. TJ made his way through the captions, pictures and comments and turned to Cyrus.

"Muffin, are you okay?" Were the first words that left his mouth.

"I've been dealing with this for a long time, if Kira thinks she's in any way original then I have news for her. What about you? You play basketball, your teammates have seen this, your coach, and you aren't even gay or into me in the slightest so I'm so sorry that you've been dragged into this mess and-" He said throwing his hands up and letting them drop down and exhaling heavily.

TJ moved closer to his face and placed a gentle kiss on his lips "I never said anything about not liking you, Muffin. You're amazing. As for basketball, my parents and everything else, we'll figure it out together."

All Cyrus could do was nod his head, hypnotised by the little golden flecks that adorned TJ's eyes.
