Hello sweet potatoes, I'm back with chapter 5! Give me some tips on how to create RYDER's character. I don't want him as the typical cliche 'bad boy' but as a quiet closed off character! See ya at the end!* * *
THE WAILING noise of my alarm cuts through my head, I mumble something gibberish and reach out to turn it off. It takes a few tries but I get there. Eventually. With a yawn, I roll and then strain to get up. My body feels heavy and my eyes are glued together. With a heavy sigh, I jolt and jump out of the bed. Without a duvet of course. I glance out of the window briefly, the sky is cloudy and slightly dark. I think it is going to rain. I walk towards the bathroom and splash some water on my face. Glancing at the mirror, I notice my face is pale and my usually soft brown hair is dishevelled and tangled. One's night of sleep can do that to someone.
As soon as I finish brushing my hair and showering, I walk downstairs. I grab an apple and bite it. The sweet, crunchy taste of the apple fills my mouth. I don't notice my mom sitting on the sofa. I run back upstairs to brush my teeth and nearly trip. I curse my clumsy feet and rush back down as soon as I finish brushing my teeth. I shove down some store-bought waffles, the sticky sweet taste nearly makes me gag, before running out of the door.

IT'S SATURDAY, so I'm not sure of what to do. I fish my phone from my pocket, tray to call someone, and think about what to do. In all honesty, I normally spend my days lounging at home, or at the gym. I decide I just want to be alone for today. I call a taxi then pocket my phone and wait for it. People blur as my eyes start to droop. I yawn but a loud noise startled me and I nearly fall over. Silently 'telling the driver to piss off', I realise that it's my taxi. I run towards it before it speeds off hopelessly. I open the door and jump in. Immediately he asks me where I want to go.
'Manhattan Mall,' I tell the driver. A minute later we zoom off.

'SHIT!' MY shoulder throbs as I shout. Some idiot pushed his curtain bar on my shoulder. Someone else then bumps into me and I fall. 'Ow!' I whine. I glance up and glare at my attacker, from my position on the floor. His blonde hair is combed neatly on his head and his jaw is set firmly. 'You again!' He stares at me with his violet eyes and I scowl. 'A sorry would be nice!'
'I'm sorry,' Ryder says flatly. I don't move to get up and Ryder notices that we're gathering attention. He extends a hand reluctantly and mutter something under his breath. I take it and he pulls me. Silently, he walks away, his curtain bar bobbing around in the air.
With the throbbing in my shoulders, I disband my shopping and decide to eat. The smell of pizza fills my nose and I follow it.

THE FIRST thing I notice when I get home is the change in the atmosphere. And the fact that my dad is actually home. It's no secret that both of my parents are drowned in the depression and my dad chooses to deal with it differently. He works day and night, barely at home with all of his business trips. I am startled that he's drawing circles on my mom's back and hugging her, soothing her gently. I freeze when he looks up and glances at me. Something like hope shimmers in his eyes.
'Mom?' I ask. My dad and I have grown distant over the 2 years Lucas was taken. She looks up and there is something frightening in her features. It's the anger of a mother. Her facial features softens and I step towards her.
'Laura, where were you?' She questions me. It's all surprising as mom hasn't taken interest in me since Lucas.
'Just at the mall,' I say coolly. My voice is soft but she can hear me. 'Mom what happened?' I know something must've happened to make her act this way.
She sighs. 'I saw him today.' Her voice is filled with emotions. Dread is one of mine. False hope.
'Who?'
'Luke,' She says. 'Lucas.'

I am so sorry if this update is so later! Updates won't be very frequent as school has started but I'll try to write as much as I can!
See ya later sweet potatoes.
I've got a pretty sweet chapter for you soon. :)
