After falling into a ditch (curse you darn heels!), you discovered that you had the power to move through time. By travelling through time, you saw Genghis Khan found the Mongol Empire and Marco Polo during his travels. You saw the mistakes that leaders made which led to wars and conflicts. Using the knowledge you learnt from elementary school till university, you helped these leaders to change their choices and avoid the mistakes they made as known to history. Due to this, you caused history to change for the better. One day, after ensuring that the suggestion to use nuclear weapons were cancelled, you returned back to the 21st century only to see your city in ruins due to a nuclear attack.
