Hey! I'm back from the dead (only for a few seconds though). I got inspired to make this prompt after deciding to take a break from reading 2 lectures worth of information about DNA (genetics is pretty cool guys). :) This prompt is slightly similar to Omelas! Though I left the ending with enough space to let ya'll use your own imagination to decide the character's fate.

Welcome to Paradise.
The famous country where everything is well... a paradise. The only country left in the world where there are no wars, no corruption, no epidemics, no rivalries, the government is perfect and everyone is happy. There is plenty of food, medicine and shelter to go around. There are ample jobs available for all kinds of qualifications. Education is compulsory and many subsidies are given to those who are struggling financially.
Paradise is the last surviving oasis in a planet destroyed by the Nuclear Radiation War that happened 100 years ago.
However, just like every other country out there, Paradise has secrets of its own. They have many secrets that they protect. Most of these secrets were harmless ones that keeps the country safe such as military strategies. These secrets kept Paradise's citizens safe.
But there is one secret that the goverment is hiding. A secret so horrid, so unbelievable, that they will fight to the death to keep buried in the dark. A secret that could wreck the entire country apart.
They say that everything comes at a price.
They just didn't say that it involved keeping someone locked underground.
Or that I was the price.
