"Hey!" Wafflehouse heard a friendly voice over the phone. "It's Denny's!"
"Um, how did you get my number?" Wafflehouse had a tired voice. But, he was nervous to hear what Denny's would say.
"Ihop contacted me at the end of the debate a few hours ago, she gave me your number." Denny's snickered. Why would Ihop have his phone number? He started to sweat with nervousness.
"How does Ihop have my phone number?" Wafflehouse wanted to know 'how' they were contacting him before 'why'.
"How?" Denny's started to sound more and more impatient "Well, by our phone call, she seems to know you pretty well. She talked about how good of friends you two are. So, I would appreciate it if you didn't treat me like an idiot and stop acting dumb." Though he sounded impatient, he didn't raise his voice or talk too fast. He wanted to get his point across without adding more conflict.
"I..." Wafflehouse paused, he didn't know what to say. He hasn't even had a real face to face interaction with Ihop, let alone a friendship with her. "I'm not friends with her." Wafflehouse was telling the truth, he didn't know why Ihop was doing this but he knew it wasn't good.
"Bullshit." Denny's said blantly. "You're fucking bullshit, everything about you." Denny's started to chuckle. " You're trying to ruin my business. You're doing one good fucking job too." Wafflehouse heard a sigh from the other line. " Ihop called me, I don't know how she got my number. But, she said she wanted to talk about what she said on stage. She said that she was disgusted, I explained everything . She started to talk about all this shit you told her." Denny's started to sound defeated.
"But, it's not true." Wafflehouse wasn't going to take this. Denny's had every right to be mad...if it was true. But, it wasn't. "I don't even know her." He started to sound more and more frustrated. Wafflehouse waited for a response but heard nothing. "Hello?"
"I don't even fully understand what the fuck hepatitis is." He mumbled.
"Denny's, I've never talked to her before. She probably thought what I said actually applied to you. In the debate I never said that you're restuarant 100% had it." Wafflehouse was stumbling over his words, he couldn't believe this was happening. He didn't know which order to explain it. " She's just adding fuel to the fire, I think she's trying to make us-"
"Look bad?" Denny's interupted. " Yeah, whatever." He huffed " Why should I believe you? You were the one who started all this! You were the one who has made my business go to shit recently! And over what?" He laughed out of annoyance " Over something that is not true!" Denny's was practically yelling at this point. "Sorry, littleman! I'm not going to believe you. I thought you would say sorry. But, I guess you're too proud of yourself to do that." Denny's snickered. "Yeah, go make friends with other restaurants to see how you can fuck me over again this time. Goodbye. " As soon as Wafflehouse was about to say something, the line went silent, Denny's hung up.
Wafflehouse sat in silence. He didn't know what to think. He fell back onto his pillow and took a deep breath in. "This is not happening right now." His chest started to tighten up, his head started to hurt. It was suppose to be his relaxing time since it was now the start of the weekend. But, he felt worse than he had before.
