Ember POV
It was nearly 10:30am when I awoke. I stretched out sleepily across the large bed and a faint smell of chocolate chip pancakes consumed my nostrils, making my stomach growl. Not long after that the heat pains kicked in doing somersaults in my gut. I winced and sucked in a deep breathe, then jumped out of bed and headed downstairs towards the delicious smell.
Before I got half way down the stairs, Tyson appeared at the bottom shirtless with a kitchen utensil in one hand and a large mug in the other. Damn he was nice to look at.
"Mornin' pretty. Hope ya slept well." He grinned looking me over and handing me the mug as I reached the last step. Mmm coffee.
"Yes thank you. Something smells amazing." I looked into the kitchen where Tyson was making pancakes.
"I made choc chip but if ya prefer we got maple syrup or..." He began flipping the pancakes in the pan and then plated them up into a neat pile.
"Chocolate chip is great, thank you!" I smiled warmly as he placed them on the table. His hair was slightly ruffled and he only wore a pair of loose fitting jeans. He was delicious. My face began to heat up as I remembered us kissing on the sofa and him getting a little too excited.
"So I figure it may be safer to stay inside as I'm sure Ares be lookin' all over for ya. But I do know a quieter area we could take a walk in if ya fancied some air?" He asked and I nodded with a huge chunk of pancake sticking out the side of my mouth. He laughed and pursed his lips slightly, making me want to kiss them all over again. A sharp pain came over me suddenly but I managed to hide it without him seeing. He always looked so worried when he saw me in pain, I didn't want him to see me like this. As tough as I pretend to be, sometimes I'm just not. You know?We spoke for about half an hour, finishing off a jug of fresh juice and Tyson cleared up the kitchen.
"Do you have a phone I could borrow? I need to let my parents know I'm okay." I asked him and he nodded. He pointed to an old looking phone attached to the wall and I began to punch in my home number. I sat on an arm chair beneath the phone and listened as the ringing tone echoed in my ears. Tyson sat across from me at the breakfast bar, the look on his face seemed almost worried. I was about to ask him if he was okay when my mum answered the phone.
"Mum, it's me!.. I'm okay, I managed to escape the clutches of the Redwoods..." I began, informing her of how Ares had brought me here and how I managed to run away and made a new friend in the process. She was definitely curious as to who Tyson and Josie were but mostly she was happy I was safe. Well, safe-ish. It wasn't long before my father grabbed the phone off of her and demanded to know everything. When I had told him everything I had told my Mum, he gave a huge sigh of relief.
"Until Ares is dealt with, I can't come home." I told him sadly. I knew the council were after Ares and I knew once they had him I'd be free of him forever. It was just a matter of ensuring he got caught. But how? My father was silent for a few minutes and I pictured him running his hand through his hair whilst he was thinking of an answer.
"May I speak with the boy you're with?" My father asked and I looked over to Tyson. He still had a strange look on his face but forced it off with a smile when I handed him the phone.
"For you." I told him and we switched seats.
"Hello?... Yes sir.... Of course I will... I understand sir...." Tyson's voice was serious and deeper than normal. I watched as his eyes flickered around the room as he answered my fathers questions and then he looked to me. His gaze felt like it would burn a hole straight through me. My face felt hot and the ever growing cramps kick boxed me from deep within my gut. I turned my face away and stared out of the window so Tyson couldn't see the grimaced look on my face. I scrunched my eyes tight shut and held my breath; counting to 10. When I turned back around, his piercing gaze was still on me intensely and for some reason it had started to turn me on! Could he tell?
"Very well sir... Yes... I won't let you down..." Tyson reached out to hand me back the phone and we traded places yet again. I didn't know people still had cord phones these days.
"I've instructed your new friend on how we can go about getting rid of that monster once and for all. I will make a call to Eric at the council and he will take it from there. Once he's been captured, you will get on a boat to bring you down south where I can pick you up half way. But whatever you do, stay as far away from that beast as you can." My father instructed and I agreed.
