Ozai Bokkan stood before me, wearing a smart black coat over a white T-shirt and black jeans; his long hair tied back away from his demonic eyes. He seemed surprised to see me like on a whole new level, as though he thought I were dead yet here I was living and breathing. Well, breathing.
"You!" He growled fiercely from the back of his throat. He stepped away from his open door and inched closer towards me. I scurried back across the floor trying to get my limbs to work, trying to pull myself up to stand but my body wouldn't work.
"Stay back!" I cried out but still he advanced on me with a dangerous look on his face that made me shiver.
"How are you here!?" He growled again in disbelief. I wondered the same thing myself. I hadn't intended to come out this far. But something told me he wasn't talking about me just being in the middle of the road.He reached slowly into the inside pocket of his coat and pulled out his phone, not taking his eyes off of me. He briefly looked down to his screen and then back to me as he placed it against his ear. Who the hell was he calling?
"Did you not think to inform me that the blonde little whore belonging to Dante Raine was back home? Next door to me!" He began shouting into his phone angrily. He paused as he listened to whomever was on the other end shaking his head slightly at their words.
"It was me who called you before about her, remember? I would expect the same kind of respect in return! I knew Ares was no longer the Blood Alpha, but I assumed he still had a hold of her! I can't have this! I won't have her here!" He growled getting even more angrier. This would be a good time to get up and make a run for it. But my body didn't get the memo. It was like I was frozen in place.
"I'll deal with this myself." His icy voice suddenly calmer as he hung up the phone and placed it back into his pocket. I somehow managed to force myself to stand, but my legs felt too wobbly to run. The gap between Ozai and myself got smaller and smaller as he very slowly made his way towards me with a slight limp in his step.
"I'll deal with you myself." He frowned, striking me in the face fast and hard, knocking me straight to the ground. I was unconscious as soon as I hit the floor.***
My heavy eyelids began to lift and my hazy vision started to return to normal. I'm not sure how much time had passed, but it must have been a couple of hours at least as the sun was starting to set.
I cranked my neck around to view my new surroundings. I was in some kind of old barn, empty apart from a few bales of hay. I was strapped tightly to a wooden chair and I could just make out the sound of a voice coming from outside. Ozai Bokkan stepped in, closing the barn door behind him. Crap.
"You're awake. I suppose I'll cancel the burial for now then." He grinned wickedly for a few seconds enjoying his own little joke before his face turned serious once more. He paced around me, looking deep in thought. He then turned to face me and walked straight up to me, taking me in. He didn't say a word, and neither did I. Not this time. It was then I noticed how weathered his face was with tiny scars dotted all over and I couldn't recall seeing so many before when we first met. He walked with a very slight limp, so minor that you had to really look to notice it. Did he have that before? He stared into me with his dark chocolate eyes, and I remembered all the times I had gazed into those chocolate irises of little wolfs. But his were much softer and calmer than his fathers.
"Why are you doing this to me?" I croaked.
"I was wondering how long it would take you to pipe up. You seem a bit quieter than normal. Nevertheless, when he gets here, we'll figure out what to do with you once and for all." He smirked, walking away to check outside. Who was He? The same He that was on the phone earlier? The more I pondered it, the more I realised there is probably only one person who could have been referring to.The sound of wheels in the dirt grew louder as a car approached the barn; Ozai disappearing outside to greet them. When he returned, he was followed in by none other than Rex Redwood, wearing grey joggers and a plain grey T-shirt. Must have been dress down day in his pack.
I quickly turned my head to the side not wanting to look him in the face. I couldn't bare to look at him after our last encounter. My heartbeat quickened in my chest as I felt myself now become twice as worried for my wellbeing and safety. Being stuck in a room with these two alphas was not going to be sunshine and rainbows.
"She's been quiet. It's odd. I found her blubbering like a baby in the road. Pathetic little whore." Ozai informed Rex who only hummed in acknowledgement. "What's she doing?" He said again and I knew he was referring to my strange neck positioning and scrunched up eyes.
"That'll be because she doesn't want to see me I presume." Rex's thick, familiar words echoed around the barn, making me shudder again. Flashes of being captured poured back into my mind; hearing his devilish words and seeing his hazel eyes as he.... As he....
"She's frightened of you? Good. You wouldn't be considered the most powerful alpha if you didn't scare one person at least." Ozai chuckled. "So what is your plan?
"I can think of a way to get her away from you and your son. Permanently." Rex spoke to his friend in a calmer tone than I have probably ever heard him speak. Not that I could remember after how he had previously spoken to me. But something in his words seemed off. Unthreatening even. Ozai laughed deeply which was one of the single most frightening sounds I had ever heard.
