Vic's POV
A loud scream awakens me in fright. I'm confused as I shoot up and find Kellin sitting up beside me.
It's still dark but I can make out the panic on his face.
He screams again and grabs fistfuls of his hair.
"Kellin, Kellin, hey. It's just a nightmare." I tell him, assuming that's the problem.
I touch his shoulder but he jumps and falls out of bed.
"Honey, are you okay?" I ask worried.
He doesn't answer. Instead he scrambles to his feet and races out of the room. I hear the bathroom door shut which leaves me confused. I rub my tired eyes and look to the alarm clock. It's 4:38am.
I get out of bed and go down to the bathroom. I try the handle but the door is locked.
"Darling, open up and tell me what's wrong." I suggest but all I get in response is the sound of Kellin wailing. "Kellin please, I just want to help."
But he doesn't answer me. He cries for over half an hour, ignoring my pleads, until I decide to intervene.
I hold the door handle and them slam myself against the door as hard as I can. I hear it crack but it doesn't open so I do it again. The frame cracks and the door flies open. I find my boyfriend curled in a ball, sitting at the bottom of my shower, completely hysterical.
I walk over to him and squat down beside him. I place my hand on his shoulder but he screams and slaps my hand away. I've never seen him so paralyzed with fear.
"Kell, please just say something. How can I help?" I ask beyond worried.
He just shakes his head and grabs fistfuls of his hair.
Maybe sleeping away from home has triggered some kind of episode.
"Babe, I'm gonna call your mom, okay?" I tell him.
He doesn't reply though, he hardly seems to hear me.
I leave him and get my phone then rush back to the bathroom. No way am I leaving him alone. I find his mom's contact and press call. When she answers, she sounds half asleep.
"Dr. Fuentes, why are you calling at this ungodly hour?" she grumbles.
"I'm sorry to disturb you, Ms Richards, but Kellin just showed up at my house. He's hysterical and won't tell me why." I lie.
"Is he hurt?" she asks.
"Not physically, I don't think." I sigh.
"Okay, I'll be over in a minute to pick him up." she says then hangs up.
I put my phone down and turn to Kellin who's wails have weakened.
"Darling, I need you to get dressed for me. Your mom's on her way." I explain.
He doesn't move so I leave the room again. I go down to the living room and collect his clothes. I can't help but to feel disheartened. We had such an amazing night last night, I hate that it's over.
I return his clothes to him and then squat down beside him. He tries to move away from me but he's got nowhere to go.
I can't help but to feel like this fear is directed at me.
"Kellin, is this because of what we did last night?" I ask softly.
"Vic, she's a fucking liar!" he screams.
"Who? What are you talking about, Kellin. You're not making any sense." I explain pleadingly.
"Go. Please. Go!" he sobs.
"Okay," I nod sadly, respecting his wishes and leaving the bathroom.
I pace through the house, stressed and confused. The boy I love is shut in my bathroom in an immense amount of emotional pain and I don't know what to do.
Soon enough there's a loud knock on my door. I answer it and find a very stressed mother.
"Where is he?" she asks.
"He's locked himself in the bathroom." I reply.
"What's wrong with him?" she asks worried.
"I don't know. He seems to be having some kind of an episode." I inform her. "I think he might feel better once he's at home. The only problem is, how do we get him there if he won't move and won't let anyone touch him?"
She seems to have an idea as she begins rummaging through her handbag. She pulls out a pill bottle. It's Kellin's sleeping pills.
"Will these work?"
"They could."
I take the pills from her hands and fetch a glass of water before going back into the bathroom. Thankfully Kellin is now dresseed and he seems to have relaxed a bit. If anything, he seems a little numb.
"Kells," I say quietly which gets his attention.
"Vic," he whispers, looking at me fearfully.
"Your mom's here." I tell him.
His eyes go wide and he shakes his head.
"No, I can't go home! No you don't understand!" he cries.
I pop the cap on the bottle and spill four pills into my palm. I would never give someone this many in a single dose but I need to knock him out fast.
"Take these, Darling." I tell him.
"What are they?" he asks wearily.
"They're going to make you feel better." I explain.
He wastes no time in snatching the pills out of my hand and throwing them down his throat, not even bothering to swallow them with water.
"Are you okay?" I ask him but the question makes him start sobbing again.
I go to push some hair out of his face but he slaps my hand away.
"Don't fucking touch me!" he shouts. "You knew! I know you knew! I don't trust you! I don't trust anyone!"
I'm confused by his anger and by his accusations.
"What did I know?" I ask him.
"Leave me alone!" he cries.
I sigh frustrated but respect his wishes once again.
I find Kellin's mom sitting on the sofa with her face in her hands. She looks up at me when I enter.
"What was he yelling about?" she asks.
"I don't know. He's not making any sense. He's taken the pills though and he should be out cold in a few minutes." I explain to her.
"What if he's still like this when he wakes up?" she asks.
"Give him until tomorrow then bring him back here. If I can't get through to him, take him to the hospital." I tell her.
She nods, looking a little sick.
"I thought he was doing well. He told me your sessions were helping him." she says confused.
"They have been. This came out of nowhere." I sigh. "I'm going to check on him."
I leave the room and go back into the bathroom. I find Kellin asleep, snoring softly. I'm thankful for how peaceful he looks. I pick him up and carry him out to his mom.
She stands up and I follow her out to her car. She opens the back door and I carefully slide my boyfriend in.
"You okay to get him out?" I ask his mom.
"Yeah, I should be okay." she says.
"Oh, don't forget these." I hand her Kellin's medication then she gets in her car and drives off towards her home.
I go back inside and sit in front of the fire. It's still on from the night before. I hug my knees and focus on last night, trying to distract myself from the tightening in my chest. I hope Kellin's okay.
