"Otto!" I yell, running through the hospital doors. "Otto I'm late, where is he?"

"He's in the ward, you need to get a wristband." Otto moves quickly, wrapping his fingers around my wrist and dragging me toward the blue security desk. I can feel the emotion bubbling in my chest, a mixture of excitement, panic, and pure adrenaline.

"Mr. Knight?" I nod. A blue wristband is tapped around my wrist and the doors to the back open. He's in room 314....I just have to find it. Otto is close behind me, and I'm desperately searching every hall for a sign of anything that could lead me to my husband, the love of my fucking life.

I finally find the right ward, cursing myself for taking too long. I'm already running late to the most important day of my life. Hell, this is bigger than my fucking wedding. I never thought I'd say that, but here we are. Room numbers start at 300, so it's not long before I find the one my love is behind. I knock lightly, but open the door without waiting for a response. I bet he's tired. And I know he can't sleep with a bustling hospital around him, he's never been able to.

Awsten's laying on the bed, looking as beautiful as the day I first married him. An IV enters his hand, I frown that I wasn't here for that experience. I must freeze in the doorway, because Otto gives me a light shove forward. When I turn around, he's nodding at me encouragingly. I take another step towards Awsten, who lightly smiles up at me from his spot in bed. "Hi, Gee." He smiles up at me.

"Hello, beautiful. How was it? I'm so sorry I wasn't here." Words start spewing out of my mouth a mile a minute. Awsten shushes me lightly. I'm sure he would normally accompany it with a hand on my cheek, but both of his are currently full.

"It's not your fault they cancelled your flight, Geoff. What matters is that you're here now." I turn to the other side of him and kiss his temple. "And look, babe. Look what we got."

In his arms is everything I've ever dreamed of. I started dating Awsten when he was still all pre-transition. He knew in his mind he was a boy, but was too afraid to tell anybody. In fact, I was the first person he came out to. I've wanted this since the day we starting dating, all those years ago, and now it's here.

"Is it a girl or a boy, Awssie?" I look down into his arms, at the baby he's holding. They're sleeping, eyes closed gently and mouth shut evenly. I've never seen anything so small. Their fists are probably the tiniest thing I've ever seen.

"Born a female, Geoff." I smile, leaning down to kiss their head. "Amélie, just as we decided." I move my lips to the forehead of my daughter.

"I'm gonna love the fuck out of her." I smile. "And of course, anything she wants to do she can. The stars are her limit." I turn to kiss my husband. "Thank you so much, Awsten. I know how hard it was for you to stop T to do all this but you have no idea how much it means to me. Awsten smiles, kissing me once more.

"Well, Geoff." He smiles. "You're gonna have somebody else calling you 'daddy' now."
