STAY A LITTLE LONGER

Chapter 1

Until then I had an amazing school life. I enjoyed being the centre of attention leading a bunch of funky girls, ruling the school. I loved showing off my skills but  hated the sports field. And it was quite common to sneak out every time we had a gym class. I had an excellent academic result and was pretty much involved in every school event. So I guess Mr. Mclurry didn't mind my absence. I was known for my eloquent orating skills and had been leading the school editorial board since the last 3 years.

In short, I was a celebrated geek of Wayland High, the most famous school of Brooklyn.

The Foundation Day celebration had still an hour to go before the prize distribution would begin. Amy, May and Emma were busy shipping Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez and my best friend Vienna had suddenly disappeared after her performance. That left me bored as I scanned the crowd ahead trying to catch up with something interesting. I felt a pair of eyes measuring me and as I turned to stare back,he was already flirting with another girl. Creep.

"Can't these boys think of something else rather than copying the same moves every year?"

Amy seemed to have heard me as she frowned complaining. "I love this song. Despacito...". And with that she joined the rest of the crowd screaming at the top of her lungs. But believe me she hardly knew Spanish.

I quickly stuffed the last bits of sandwich into my mouth when May suddenly choked into her water,her eyes widening with surprise.

"Easy May". I chuckled briefly before following her gaze.

"I can't believe it". I gasped in surprise myself as I saw Vienna drooling over Raphael clearly ignorant of our presence as they walked in towards the canteen counter.

This girl had really weird choice. I never really understood why she fell for the boy who had slept with half of the girls in the school. I wasn't quite fond of him although he was one of the hottest boy in the school. We were enjoying the enrolling scene the new couple being all in love until they bumped straight into Emma. Time to control your PDA Vi.

"Really Vi? I can't believe you're dating him. Sky did you know. What's got in you? Raphael,no way." Emma spluttered all at once breathlessly and I groaned inwardly. This girl really hated Raphael so much for some weird reasons.

Vienna clearly caught off guard said nothing while Raphael quickly backed  up. "There you go. Glad we found you guys. See you later". And with that he quickly walked out of the room leaving behind an eerie silence.

"Time to go unless you want a detention". I grabbed my bag and walked out breaking the trance. We sneaked into our favorite seats in the nick of the time as our principal Mr. Jonathan Wayland took over the stage.

"You don't seem mad. OK, let me guess. You have seen us before together?"

"Nope". I liked playing around Vienna freaking her out.

"You checked my phone?"

"Nope, I haven't figured out your new password yet."

"Then how? Come on Sky,you never knew".

"I kinda saw it coming since the last basketball match". I winked while she blushed caught for the second time.

"Yeah. He asked me out a week ago and I think I really like him". I rolled my eyes at her immaturity.

"A week and you are already drooling. You are just impossible".

"No,it didn't happen all of a sudden. I kinda stalked him for a while before he actually asked me out".

"And when do you think you were gonna tell me?"I sounded clearly annoyed.

"I'm sorry. But Sky I wasn't really sure about it either. But I think he really likes me".

"Hmm".

"Now don't be all grumpy,please". And with that she hugged me I smiled  giving in.

"How was my performance? Raphael said I sounded like an angel",her voice dreamy.

"To remind you Missy, you got a word in the chorus wrong every time n it was fairly audible".

"Uggh! Can't you ever just praise my talent at least once?"

"I guess that's not what best friends do n you already have Raphael to point out your talent". I gave her my usual smug and she rolled her eyes.

We kept bickering until the crowd applauded excitedly and Aiden Collins took over the stage to begin the prize distribution ceremony.

"Creep". I muttered under my breath but Vienna had already caught it.
"You have a cold war going on I see".

"Oh shut up. He gets on my nerves".

"He's so hot". Amy chirped in.

"I love his sexy voice",Emma squealed.

"You have something to add May?" She was staring at him completely dreaming in her own world.

We laughed before his raspy voice echoed through the auditorium n I couldn't help but admire the strength in his voice. So commanding yet gentle.
