Mr. Wayland was standing at the center of the room with a dirty smirk on his face. I stood up cautiously. Adelaide was breathing down my neck. He knew I would come for him.

"You are getting faster and clean Kyle. You took down quite some bulk. Well done kid!" He said with pride.

"What do you mean?"

"It was a bad move though. You should have ran but now it looks like our destinies are intertwined. And your friend here has definitely picked up some unnecessary guts".

A wicked grin litted up his face. There was a blinding flash, a deafening roar and something warm sprayed on my bare shoulder. She didn't even scream as she fell heavily on me drenching me in her blood. Adelaide laid dead at my feet with a bullet wound on her forehead, her lifeless eyes wide in horror.

"Petty girl should have known her limits". I stared in shock hot tears pouring my cheeks as strong arms dragged me away from her.

I managed to wheeze out the words as he forced me to the chair. "It's my fault". I gasped as realization dawned in on me.

"Yes it is. And there could be more blood in your hands unless you tell us the entire story. How did you do this?" He hissed angrily.

I blinked hard to wipe away the blood fogging my vision as I looked up at him. "You don't wanna know that old man".

"The longer you take to spit out the truth the closer your mother edges to death". Mr. Samael poked his head with a smug smile.

My brain got sloppier with every passing second. I had to end it fast. "She will be dead anyway. But what about you? You're so stubborn, aren't you to see the truth? Did you think that being his lapdog could save your life? Emma will hate you forever. And your Master will kill you as soon as he deals with this mess". My voice was cold and low.

Shit! Now, I have every eyes in the room locked onto my bloody face including the devil himself. My earpiece took the exact moment to cackle into life and I felt adrenaline race through my veins when that very familiar voice rang from the other end. "Sky hold on. We are coming".

A harsh, mocking laughter sent chills down my spine as I kept my eyes locked on Adelaide. If she would just move!

"Trying to play with brains? That's not your style. Where did you learn that". He asked with amusement.

"Are you sure about that John?" That defeated  look on Samael's marked my victory. Wayland fought hard to conceal his anger.

"Stop your silly games Kyle and maybe I can have some mercy on you. I gave your life a meaning, treated you fairer than my own daughter. I created you. And you'll be loyal only to me". He spat angrily.

"Throwing me into rings with men double my age for a fight is fair? Or do you think you could do better than breaking my fingers for missing the targets by an inch? You didn't feel pity for me. You trained me so that I could save that sorry ass of yours one day". Haunting memories of the past four years of torture crept behind my bloodshot eyes.

"You were too timid to even let Vienna know her mother's identity. How could you expect me to be loyal when all you told were lies?" My throat ran dry but I didn't wanna stop. The fire trapped within me burst into flames. "I belong to no one but myself. You have unleashed my demons Jonathan but you have failed to tame them".

I spat viciously. "You're playing a dead game".

Rough hands tugged painfully at my hairs. He jolted my head up to stare into his dark eyes. I recognized the silver flash too late as it dug deep into my neck. The burning pain sent me squirming under his grip.

"You will never beat me Kyle. You are just a girl. I'll be long gone before they even find your decayed body". He smirked devilishly as the knife ran further down my neck cutting me deeper.

"Get away from her". I heard a voice sound somewhere at distant. The pressure eased on my neck but the pain was overwhelming. I tried to turn my head in the direction of the voices but my restraints kept me grounded.

"Back off Jonathan. You are surrounded". Clary ordered but that only made him quicker. I felt the cold nozzle of his gun pressing onto my side.

"Quite a rescue party for one girl. I am surprised. Could have called it off as a casualty Clarissa. Why the risk? Precious she is, isn't she?" He taunted. I strained my vision to take in my rescue squad. Panicking Clary, horror stricken Suzanne, fuming Ryan, a furious Daniel. Did I look that bad for that awful look on their faces? Yet I couldn't help but agree with Wayland.

"Let her go". Ryan gritted his teeth.

"Lover boy are you?" He chuckled his fingers carelessly digging into my wound as I bit my lips in pain.

"What the hell Dad?" Vienna was standing at the doorway her eyes wide in horror. "Mom told me everything".

Emma looking equally stunned. "This is so fucked up".

"You shouldn't have come Vienna". He growled moving away as I slumped back on the chair.

"Emma, what are you doing here?" Mr. Samael stepped forward.

"I'm so ashamed to be called your daughter".  Emma replied in tears and maybe a mild reflection flashed through Samael's too.

"Get back all of you or she will be dead".

"Jonathan stop".

"Clarissa don't. Take away your men and I'll leave in peace. Take your daughter and forget about tonight. She deserves to die. Anyone who betrays me deserves death".

The darkness was far more soothing than my friends' voice.

Through my blurred vision, I saw a flick in Ryan's green eyes as gunshots echoed in the air deafening me. I didn't have time to react or think. John yelped away from me in pain. I felt someone tearing apart the bindings and cradling me easily to the corner.  I squeezed my eyes shut embracing the pain when the firing increased around me.

"...Skylar, open your eyes... Lark.."
Argh! Can't they just stop making noise for awhile? I groaned peeling my eyes open to stare into troubled green depth.

"Did you break Sue's car again?" I slurred not knowing what slipped past my tongue.

"It's gonna be okay". I turned to look at worried Emma. Why is she worried? Why was everyone so worried and tensed? Ryan cradled me up but my neck felt on fire as blood dribbled down my lips. My eyes squeezed shut and my fingers dug onto his chest. But the agony was clear and unbearable.

"I got you baby. Look at me". I peeled my eyes open but my eyes latched onto something or rather someone else. Clary's eyes were too focused on Adelaide. And Jonathan was there with a gun.  My eyes widened but I was too late to alert Clary.

Bang! A heart wrenching scream and Clary fell face first onto the tiled floor while the bullet pierced Vienna.

There was so much red. The world was melting around me. I reached out. Her trembling fingers grabbed mine. Fear flickered in those hazel eyes.

"I'm sorry Sky. M so sorry".

I tried to answer. I tried to stop the blood but my muscles won't move. I watched as the colors drain from her face and sucked the light out of her eyes. She was gone.
