-CAITLIN'S POV-
Only one girl payed attention to me besides the teacher when I walked in.
She was wearing a uniform of some sort that I saw other girls wearing. Basketball maybe?
She has freckles and brown hair, green eyes. She smiled at me.
"Hello who are you." The teacher said nastily. Greeaaatt.
"I'm Caitlin, I was in the nurse. I'm new, I'm from--"
"I don't care. Sit down there." She interrupted and pointed to a seat two down from the smile girl.
After five minutes of lecturing about atomic structures or whatever, the bell rang.
I hate that I came here right in the middle of the year.
I hate that I already have an enemy.
I hate that my teachers mean.
I hate that noone cares about me.
My thoughts were interrupted by the girl who smiled at me.
"Hi!" She said. "I'm Caroline."
"Oh hi." I said.
"You're Caitlin right? I was wondering where you're from. Ms. Mint is really rude."
"Yeah, and I'm from Tennessee." I said shyly. She has no idea how much I appreciate this.
"Awesome! There's good lacrosse down there I think." She said.
"Oh I actually don't know, I'm not really sporty." I said.
"Well we're heading to gym right now. Our whole third period Science class has gym fourth and lunch fifth. It just kinda worked out that way." She said with a smile.
"Yikes. I didn't bring clothes." I said. I'm so stupid.
"Don't worry! I have clean extras. Always do!" She said as we approached the gym.
"You're a lifesaver." I said with a sigh.
"Aye no problem." She said.
We walked in and she handed me a Tshirt and shorts. "Haha sorry, it says my last name on the back. Every coach's gotta know my name if I wanna play in collage."
"It's fine. You're already thinking of collage? That's crazy." I said in awe.
"I'm actually already committed. I'm going for law, basketball, fieldhockey, and lacrosse to Boston." She smiled.
"WHAT WOW!" I said as I put on her shorts, which were considerably baggy based on the height and muscle difference between us.
"It's no big deal really, I've always wanted to go."
"It's a very big deal!" I said and tied my shoe. She's already dressed.
"Let's go I don't wanna be late!" She said and pulled my arm out of the locker room.
"Coach Reynolds!" Caroline said. "Caitlin's new, she needs a squad spot. Can she sit next to me?"
"Just because you scored the winning goal yesterday." The big gym teacher said with a laugh.
"Yay thanks!" Caroline said and jogged over to me.
We did a stretch with a leader, who was noticeably cute and athletic looking. Caroline told me he's already taken by the head cheerleader. I used to cheerlead but not here. I'm too shy to join.
Then I struggled through my push-ups and our teacher and apparently Caroline's coach told everybody that boys can play basketball and girls play volleyball.
There's two classes in this gym period so we joined together to play volleyball. Caroline let me join her team but all I really wanted to do was boy search.
Caroline served over to a girl on the other team who she's kind of friends with-- Nicole. She's a cheerleader so I didn't brother to introduce my self.
Nicole swung and missed and the boys stopped their serious 'balling' to laugh at her. She just twisted her hair and smiled.
Caroline served again and I don't think she realized how impressed the boys were at her athletic skills and I felt a pang of jealousy knowing I could never do that.
"Caroline." I said.
"What?" She said quickly and forearm passed it over, scoring us another point.
"I didn't hear you mention that you play volleyball." I said and furrowed my eyebrows.
"I don't." She said, serving it over hard again.
"Then why are you so good?" I asked.
"I'm not." She said with a spike over the net resulting in another point for us. She's basically the only one in the room playing and not watching the boys.
"You're amazing all the boys are staring at you!" I said.
"No they're not don't be silly, guys like cheerleaders." She whispered and I turned to take another gaze at the guys doing whatever they're doing.
"Whatever." I smirked and then smiled.
The teachers told us to go get dressed again, and we did. The bell rang and we walked out of the gym.
And to think I went a whole two periods without thinking of Luke. I silently but whole-heartedly thanked Caroline in my head.
