"Thanks for the ride Cassandra! See you later Peyton!" I smile as Shane and I both get out of Cassandra's car.
"No problem Addie! You two have a great day!" Cassandra smiles in return.
"Bye Shaney! Bye Addie! Oh, and tell Jacob I want to see him!" Peyton smiles as she waves from her car seat.
"I will!"
Both Shane and I wave goodbye and then turn around to walk inside the school building. We never got a chance to talk yesterday after school, so I still haven't been able to confess all of my secrets with him yet. I'm still too worked up over everything that's happened with Angie and the trial, so I told him we could talk another day about it all.
"Hey Shane."
"What's up?" He looks over to me.
"I might need your help after school." I say.
"With?"
"I'm going to the police station, because I want to speak with Officer Bernard alone."
"What for?" He raises an eyebrow.
"I don't know... I just can't stop thinking about what happened at the trial. I need to figure out if what Jared's lawyer said is true or not. I can't even sleep at night. It's all I think about." I sigh as we make it to my locker.
Once we're at my locker, I begin putting in my combination.
"I just feel like I don't have the full truth. The only way to salvage my relationship with Angie is to get the truth." I state.
"Even if that means learning what Jared's lawyer said, is true?" Shane carefully asks.
"Yes." I nod as I pull my notebook from my locker and stick it into my bag. "Even if I don't like what I hear. Angie deserves the real truth, not just some piece of paper that anyone could have forged."
"I highly doubt they would go to that extent." I hear a chilling voice from behind.
I turn around to see Angie and Jax standing a few feet away from us. Jax let's go of Angie's hand and steps over to his locker as he begins putting in his combination.
"You don't know that Angie. Look at what they did to Jacob. They almost killed him!" I exclaim as I notice a few people beginning to watch us.
I notice Angie's features soften for a split second. "How is Jacob?" She finally asks.
I notice Shane and Jax giving each other looks that say, 'I hope this doesn't turn into a cat fight.'
"He's fine. A lot better actually. He's made a full recovery, for the most part." I say a little softer. "It didn't look good for a while there."
Angie frowns, but then her expression turns solid again. "Well good. He didn't deserve that. And neither did my father."
"You're right. Neither one of them deserved what happened to them. That's why I'm going to uncover the truth today after school. I'm going to go talk to Officer Bernard." I confess.
"Then I'm coming with you." Angie states, rather than asks.
"Are you sure? What if you don't like what you hear?"
