Forth looked indignantly at Wayo and pushed the kid off nervously. He dusted his arms, gave the boy a strange look and took a deep breath. Two seconds and the kid was already in his comfort zone. Beam or whatever his name was, seemed a little hurt when he had pulled away. Forth crumpled the little piece of paper clutched in his hand and gave the boy a long glance.
"You stay... there," he said, pointing to the other corner of the room.
Beam's eyes narrowed at the sight of the couch.
'But... you just said you're going to lay out a blanket for me! And a mattress!" Beam mumbled.
Forth paused to look at chibi Wayo who was smiling mischievously from the doorway and turned back to the boy.
"Yeah, well... I change my mind. Make yourself comfortable. We'll talk about school in the morning. Try not to break anything. And for heaven's sake, lock the front door. If you didn't notice yet, there are a lot of burglars around..." Forth gave Wayo a dirty look.
"Ah... hait," Beam said, looking every bit disappointed.
When he deemed that the conversation was over, Forth turned around and walked towards his bedroom.
But a 'Phi...' made him stop.
He turned around and regarded the boy.
"Do you have any food? I'm kinda... hungry."
Forth pointed to the fridge in the kitchen and then he turn to entered his room and closed the door. Beam nodded to himself and gave a questioning glance to the chibi man. Wayo shrugged.
"He's always like that."
Beam was kind of embarrassed and he rubbed his elbows nervously. The chibi man sighed and walked towards him and slung an arm around his shoulder.
"It's okay, he's just scary like that. If you're hungry you can eat at Phana's place. He was talking about you just now. You know his house right?"
Beam shook his head.
"Down the hall to the left."
"By Phana did you mean P'Pha?"
"Yeah. But if he doesn't open the door knock loudly and scream. Phana has a tendency of daydreaming."
"Wait...then what are you going to do?"
"Get you food, of course." With that chibi man walked towards the fridge and opened it without any disregards.
Beam trudged his way to the other apartment. Great he started off on the wrong books in the first day...hour to be exact. But he really couldn't help it, that smell Forth gave off it was unlike any other he had smelled. It smelled like his favourite ice cream Vanilla and Chocolate. But he had a feeling that it was not really how Forth smelt. It was a nice smell, he wondered what gave it off and why Forth had smelt like that.
Well it surely wasn't the mayo and ham sandwich that Phana prepared for him that night. He took a bite with a sigh trying his hardest to suppress a scowl because at least these people were being nice to him, that's what was important after all.
******************************
Forth couldn't sleep. He'd tried to. It was just that he was not used to sharing his home with someone else. Even if that 'someone else' was just a boy he'd deserted out in the living room.
There had been voices. Then, the sounds of the door being latched shut and someone seemed to be shuffling around in the hallway. And then...
Dead silence.
Forth clutched his pillow and pulled it over his head.
