Beam didn't know when tears started rolling down his cheeks but he sure as hell remembers rubbing them furiously off his face as he sprints back to the apartment not wanting to stick around school anymore. When he finally reached Forth's apartment building his eyes teared up again and he slipped in behind the dumpster to cry in peace before he went inside. He couldn't be too careful in case Phana or Wayo catches him in the hallway.
As he watched in a blur drop after drop falling onto the palm of his hands he wondered why he was crying and he thought he was being extremely dumb so for one last time he sniffled and wiped his face before entering the apartment building.
As he walked up the stairs a feeling of dread filled him like it was the last time he would come here. He knows it's not true because even though he's contemplating going back to where he belongs he can't just do it suddenly. His father doesn't know, the school doesn't know. He couldn't just leave like that. He automatically went into Forth's bedroom. He didn't know what was so special about this place that he had to come here but he knelt down beside the bed anyway softly caressing the covers and was about to place a cheek against the satin sheets when the phone started ringing.
The phrase 'throw in the towel at the end of the day' was apt for the culinary profession. Which is exactly what Forth did, as he stood before his locker, removing his stained coat and changing slowly into a more comfortable set of clothes.
It was at that moment when someone tapped his shoulder. He turned to find 'Lam' looking back at him grimly, eyes unblinking like a dead fish.
"Yeah?" he urged.
'Lam' pointed upwards with one index finger and those beady eyes of his widened.
"Boss wants to see you," he revealed and left as suddenly as he'd come. Forth thought he even imagined him saying 'Susu na' at the end but the man had already slipped out of the room.
Forth clutched his t-shirt and crumpled it.

"Hello?""Oi. Beam?" Beam's heart fell.
"F..father?"
"Are you ready to go back?"
"Huh?"
"I said are you ready to go back to your home and stop imposing on Mr Jaturapom?" The voice seemed gruff and impatient
Stop imposing on Mr Jaturapom....If going back meant he would not be a hindrance anymore then he would gladly go back.
However gladly was easier said then done.
"I guess..."
"Really?" His father actually seemed surprised.
"Yes. I'm ready to go back. I miss Momo."
"Who?"
"My cat."
"Uh...okay. Have a good last day together."
"Last day?"
"Yeah. I'll send your tickets first thing tomorrow. Train is at night." His old man already planned everything...Sneaky old man.
"Okay I'll try to make the most of the last day."
"To what degree do you take most?"
"Huh?"
"Uh...I mean. Better not tell Mr Jaturapom about leaving in case you know he makes some...uh extra 'special' plans. ha ha." This old guy laughing was creepy and Beam was feeling the chills.
"You wouldn't want him to take trouble till the last minute now would you. You've already done 'enough', right?"
"Yeah. Enough...you're right I won't tell him."
