"Excuse me. Is Ms Janean back?"
The receptionist looked up at him, "Sorry sweetheart, she's still in the meeting" Beam looked at his watch in disbelief.
He's been waiting for almost 20 minutes now. Where was this woman? He NEEDS to catch a train for crying out loud!"
10: 32 am.
Bangkok, Thailand.
Hua Lamphong station.
Morning rush hour.
They stared blankly at the mob of people entering and exiting the gates.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Forth blurted out, as he pushed through salarymen and women alike, trying to search for a familiar nineteen year old boy among the crowd. Easier said than done.
Phana followed him, cluelessly.
Forth Jaturapom stopped in his tracks and scanned the trains on the bulletin board. Chiang Mai....
None from Chiang Mai yet. But he couldn't ignore the possibility that... Beam could have already left. It was an option he didn't want to consider or think about. Just the same way, he didn't want to accept that life could ever be the same without that country boy.
While Phana bumped into a stocky female commuter and apologized profusely, Forth scanned the area once again.
No sign of him.
He spotted a lady behind the help counter, who was busy addressing a group of foreign tourists. Forth waited behind them, counting the minutes as they passed.
Until his patience ran out.
Not caring for the formality, he pushed through the group of tourists and stood standing before the help desk- panting and breathing hard.
"A teenager. 19. Dark hair. Brown eyes. 178cm. Clumsy as hell. Prone to accidents. Might be trying to run to Chiang Mai -breathing hard- HAVE YOU SEEN HIM?"
The woman gave him a long, hard look... one finger edging towards the 'Security' button.
Phana pulled at his sleeve quietly.
"Uh Forth... whom are we looking for?"
Forth allowed himself to be drawn away by Phana. He leaned against a column and pressed the bridge of his nose.
"Beam."
Phana followed Forth as he flit from one line to another.Getting tired he tried his best to make Forth stop "Maybe he isn't here."
Much to his surprise Forth stopped and did a 180 degree. Realization seemed to dawn on his face as Phana's words sank in.
"Then where is he?"
Phana shrugged in reply.
Forth started running towards his car again.
Chocomallow Cafe was closed on Sundays. Except they always stationed one guy to come over and stock the supplies, get the kitchen clean and do the final accounts. This week's unwitting victim was Lam.
So, when Forth stormed in, with a tired Phana following at his heels, Lam dropped the register in fright. With a curse, he bent to pick it up and straightened up to find himself face to face with the head chef. Not a pretty, auspicious sight.
"Ah... Ai'Forth? Isn't it your day off-"
Forth grabbed his collar, cutting him in his speech.
"Have you seen Beam? Did he come here? Did he meet his father?"
