One week later, the latest edition of The Times was released.
The newspaper rack–stationed at the school library's entrance–was filled up with copies of the said paper. As expected, throngs of students came to get their copies; some even took them in bulk.
In the seniors' hallway, Marvey quickly checked the Of the Heart section and felt a sense of accomplishment upon seeing his letter featured in the latest edition. Without reading his proofread letter, he went straight to reading the columnist's advice.
"Hey, Mister M!
Thank you so much for reaching out!
First of all, you're on the right track. You knew what the problem was from the beginning, and that is a good sign. Although I do agree that your time is running out fast, especially now that the seniors' final exams are over. Don't fret though, because you still have a few opportunities to consider.
Let's start with the upcoming prom. I'm guessing you've been dying to ask her to be your date. If so, you go ahead and do it soon, or you might end up being paired with someone you barely know or don't even like. If she says yes, then consider yourself lucky and make the most out of it.
Show her some love by giving her flowers when you pick her up. Be extra nice and politely grant her requests. In short, be sweet to her. That way, your message will surely come across to her.
If you don't like opening up to her while on the dance floor, you may take her to a quiet area of the prom venue. Just make sure that both of you will talk while in that corner, and nothing more than that if you know what I mean. 😉
Also, when you finally open up, be blunt and honest, because she might not want to beat around the bush.
Since you mentioned you're a senior, you also have the graduation ball as your chance, although I don't recommend it. Unless you'll be spending college with her, you may opt not to do all the suggestions I gave you.
The bottom line is, when the chance comes in, go grab it! You never know when it will come again. Who knows? She may feel the same for you too. Good luck!
Your Friendly Love Guru, E"
"Hey, Marvey!" Gavin approached him, with Doonie, Jonas, and Kei in tow. "What are the chances that you're 'Mister M' in the love notes section?"
"Uhm, no. That's not me!" Marvey answered defensively.
"Liar!" Gavin laughed in protest.
Marvey just sighed in surrender. "Alright! So what if I am?"
The boys kept heckling Marvey about his 'publication debut'. Thankfully, he was in a good mood and simply flashed a smile like he was so smitten.
"Marvey and his stupid smile!" Donnie quickly took a picture of Marvey from his phone. "Blythe will surely be pleased to see this!"
"Hey!" Marvey growled. "Delete that photo or else!"
"Na-uh! Not until she sees this."
Marvey just gave up and let go of it.
Then Jonas asked him, "So, are you going to take that advice?"
"Of course! That's why I wrote to them in the first place. I hope you guys don't mind if I didn't tell you beforehand. I just wanted to stay anonymous until my letter gets published."
Kei put his arm around his friend. "No biggie, Marvey! We really don't mind. In fact, we also have a plan for you two..."
He suddenly paused as if he shouldn't have said anything yet. "Although we can't tell you yet, sorry about that."
