I paced back and forth in the kitchen eating an apple. Jean crashed through the door, his face swollen with anger. I looked at him confused for a moment before saying something.
“Jean…” I began.
“I’m Not Soft!” He shouted.
His anger was exploding out of him quite literally. The apple in my hand had exploded along with other things that went flying throughout the room.
“Hey!” I shouted, “I never said you were soft!” Our combined anger was causing a lot of destruction in the kitchen. My telekinetic powers were causing pots and pans to hit each other and objects to fly across the room. Jean put up his shield to protect himself from the flying debris and walked out of the room. I calmed myself down, before quickly looking around the room. Pots, pans, and plates were all over the floor; some plates were shattered. I picked up all the objects that weren’t destroyed and put them away. As I swept up the broken pieces of some plates, I began to wonder what set off Jean’s anger. When I finished cleaning up the kitchen, Ed walked in with Swift at his side.
“Did you check Raven out for any wounds?” Ed asked. He seemed to not be interested in why I was cleaning the kitchen. He probably knew what had happened.
“Yeah, she seemed clean of anything to serious. Just maybe some mild scrapes and bruises.” I said calmly, but Ed’s face seemed to go to pure panic. He bolted up the stairs to Raven’s room.
Not understanding his concern real well, I followed him up the stairs and to Raven’s room. She looked extremely pale, and clammy. Ed was checking for a pulse, and making sure she was breathing.
“There’s a reason few live… They weren’t found fast enough” he said picking her up.
“What do you mean?” I asked confused.
“If he could manage to get one claw to penetrate the skin, you were in trouble. His claws were full of poison.” Ed said.
“Get her to the car now; I’m not losing anymore family members! I’m done losing people!” I shouted at Ed. He looked very shocked at my urgency. He pushed by me, and I followed him closely. Ed headed straight for the door to get Raven to the car. Jean looked up from the couch confused.
“Where’s the big rush too?” He asked softly.
“To the hospital! You coming?” I said quickly.
“What for?”
“Raven!”
“Crap… I’m coming, I’m coming!” He said leaping off the couch.
My brother and I raced out of the house together, slamming the door behind us, and jumping into the car. Ed didn’t hesitate; once the door shut we were on our way. We made it to the hospital quickly, and took her into the emergency room.
“Help!” I called out, and a doctor looked over. Recognizing the wound on Raven’s arm, he scooped her up without a word and took her away. A nurse walked over to us with concern on her face. Probably worried for Jean and I more than Ed.
“We’ll do everything we can for her,” She said with a sweet smile.
“How can you smile!?” I shouted, “you’ll heal her regardless!”
Jean came over to me and wrapped his arms around me. He understood my anger, but at the same time understood they could only do so much. It was his way of telling me to calm down and just hope.
“Please help her…” Jean said softly, “don’t give up on her.”
The woman nodded slowly and went to join the doctor who had taken Raven. They were used to seeing us here by now. Ed, Jean, and I went and sat on the chairs to wait for a verdict on Raven’s condition. I was scared, and I could see Jean was too. He looked sad and angry all at once. He looked as if he wanted to punch something. I understood his feelings though, I was having similar feelings. I wanted to punch something as hard as I could, but at the same time I just wanted to cry. Two hours had gone by in no time, and a doctor approached me. He looked into my eyes, which were very hard to read, and that scared me.
“She’s going to be just okay.” He smiled at me.
“She’s going to be…. Okay!” I exclaimed.
I jumped on Ed and Jean, who were sound asleep, and shook them wildly. They woke up with muscles tense, but when they saw the happiness on my face they understood that Raven was going to be okay.
“Thank you so much Doctor!” Ed stood up to shake his hand.
“You’re very welcome,” he smiled, “you guys can visit her later on. Luck is on her side though; she barely lived.”
