Alice POV
His performance was flawless. Even with the little brother dancing awkwardly around. When they got their yes's and were able to go through to the next round, you could see the sheer joy in Wesley's eyes. Keaton and Drew were the exact same way. But there was something about Wesley that just captured his excitement. Maybe it was the way his chocolatey eyes glimmered like the sun or the way they crinkled around the edges when he smiled. Something told me he was the one who wanted to win the baddest. The one with the most passion.
As they all walked off stage to the waiting area wesley came and sat next to me, keaton on the other side of me and drew next to wes.
"You're amazing!" I said to keaton. He blushed like mad and started shifting awkwardly in his seat.
"Sorry, keaton doesn't have much experience with the ladies," Drew said. Wesley and him laughed. I smiled, but I felt sort of sorry for keaton. He brushed his hair out of his face shyly while wesley chatted me up.
"Alice, right?"
"Right. Where are you from?"
"Oh we're from Huntington. Well, technically a little city in Washington, but no one cares about that place."
"Really? I'm from Rancho Santa Margarita."
"Where?"
I tried to explain where it was, but wesley was very confused. I eventually gave up.
"So do you have a boyfriend back there?" Wesley asked, a gleam of boyish flirtation in his eyes.
"Um, no. I don't," I said. Drew gave him a look and wesley returned it. Oh great, perfect.
"Have you ever had one?"
Wait is this, 20 questions?
"Yeah, I mean hasn't every girl at this age?"
"True. Do you still talk to him?"
"He moved. To Delaware."
It was true. I dated a boy named Troye when I was 15. We dated for 8 months and then he moved away. I guess he's gay now? That's what I've heard, at least.
Keaton spoke up. His voice was surprisingly deep for his look.
"Wesley, stop. You're dating Taylor!"
What.
Wesley shot him a glance that totally read "You're dead" while drew held in his laugh.
I glared at wesley.
"Well that just ruined the whole thing," drew muttered, and wesley whirred around and slapped him before facing me.
"O-ho-ho, mr. Big-Shot knocked down?" I said and got up.
"Wait, Alice-" Wes began but I was already walking away.
I went to sit down and say down to a Polynesian girl with brown and red hair. She smiled at me.
"Hey, what's your name?" She asked.
"Alice."
"Nice, I'm dinah jane, or just dinah," she said. "Where you from?"
"I'm from Rancho Santa Margarita, you?"
"Santa Ana."
"I've been there a couple times, I like it."
I was there for a wedding and to visit family friends. Not my favorite place in the world; it was alright.
"Ugh," Dinah groaned. "It's boring there, but I do have plenty of family there to entertain me." I laughed at that, seeing how I only had a little sister to keep my company.
"How much family?"
"Cousins, second cousins, aunts, uncles, siblings, you name it!" We laughed.
"Do you have any family nearby?" She asked.
I shook my head. "No, just me, my mom, and my little sister."
"Aw, do you ever get bored?"
I had to stop and think. Sure there were plenty of things to do in LA, but not so much in the subdivisions surrounding. I could go to the beach, the movies, and that's about it. Just a beach town filled with surfers and bums.
"Yes. Now that I think of it," I replied. She smiled.
"Well I have to go, my family's waiting. Nice talking," she said and walked away.
