“Where in the world are we going?” I asked. We had gotten in the car after dinner and Jay had blindfolded me.
“You'll see when we get there.”
“Well am I dressed okay? I feel like a bum right now.” I had on a pair of jeans and a tshirt that he had given me while I was in the hospital. It was blue with the words “Thats What She Said” written across it. I had smiled when he gave it to me, because he had remembered the shirt I was wearing when I first ran into him.
“You look perfect love.”
“Yeh right. You're just saying that.”
“No I mean it. To me, you are perfect.” I smiled
“Can I please take this off so I can see your face please..? Just for a second?” He slowly lifted the blindfold and cupped his hands over my eyes so I didnt look out the window.
“James, you are ridiculous. And I love you.” I laughed and kissed him. He smiled.
“I love you too. More than you know. Now can I trust you to keep those beautiful eyes closed for 2 seconds while I put this blindfold back on?”
“Of course you can.” I closed my eyes and turned around. I felt the blindfold being put back over my eyes and felt Jay pull me close.
“We're almost there babe.” He whispered in my ear.
I felt the car stop and heard the engine shut off. I sat up straight and Jay opened the door. He grabbed my hand and I made my way out of the car. I stumbled out hitting my head on the roof as I stepped out of the car.
“Ouch! You asshole. How the hell do you expect me to walk when Ive got this blindfold on?!” He laughed.
“Sorry. One sec.” The next thing I knew he had picked me up in his arms and was cradling me like I was a baby.
“Oh yeh great idea.. Because I trust you not to drop me.. You're even more of a klutz than me!”
“Will you shut up and just trust me. Im not going to let anything happen to you.” I stuck my tongue out in protest but didnt say anything. He started walking and pretty soon he set me back down on the ground.
“Keep your eyes closed until I tell you to open them okay?” I nodded and he untied the bindfold. I kept my eyes closed. He grabbed my hand.
“Open.” I opened my eyes and gasped. We were at the Hollywood sign.
“You up for some danger? Im pretty sure this is actually illegal.”
“Babe. Danger is my middle name. I raced to the fence and started to climb. I had been an avid rock climber for about 4 years now. I climbed up the fence and dropped to the other side.
“Lets go boy. What are you waiting for?”
“I was just admiring the view..” He winked and I giggled. What a perv.
He climbed over the fence and took my hand. We walked to the sign and I saw a blanket layed out on the ground. On the blanket was a small picnic basket. We sat on the blanket and I looked out over LA. Jay sat beside me and opened the basket. I heard the familiar sound of a beer being opened and looked over at him. He smiled and handed me a beer.
“How do you like the view?”
“It's perfect. Absolutely perfect.” I said, staring into his eyes.
“I meant the whole of LA.. but thank you.” He smiled and gave me a kiss.
“To us?” I asked, hold up my beer to make a toast.
“To us.” We clinked glasses and I turned back around.
He put his arm around me and laced our fingers together. As the sun began to set we had finished the beers and sat there in silence. I started to hum the beginning of GladYouCame and heard Jay let out a soft laugh.
“You are adorable.”
“The sun goes down. The stars come out. And all that counts. Is here and now. My universe, will never be the same. Im glad you came.”
He started to sing and I closed my eyes. Singing the last 4 words along with him.
“Im glad you came..”
“You will be..” He whispered seductivly into my ear.
I burst into a fit a giggles and pointed to my shirt. He laughed along with me and then spoke.
“You know what the best part about us is?”
“What's that Jay?”
“We are basically the same person.” He laid down and smiled.
“Made for each other. Like stars and the moon.” I burst out in another round of giggles and heard him chuckle.
“Oh dear. Ive fallen in love with a crazy person.”
