Justin's POV
2:57am
They now had 3 minutes to get to me. If no one completes it they go on til 5am.
To bring you guys up to speed, I sent them on a scavenger hunt for survival. With their weapon of choice they would have certain skills needed to complete a task to move onto the next. Along with the next 2 items they could use to their advantage whenever and however.
They now had 5 seconds. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
"HERE!" Gio and Valentina say at the same time but the clock had already hit 3:01am and I hold no mercy. I shake my head no and just stay in silence waiting for Dylan.
They both argue back and forth just trying to decide what I was gonna do. I bet they thought I'd choose between both of them but I wouldn't. I see Dylan from afar and blow the horn. He notices and drops to the ground.
"Take him back inside and get hydrated. Be back in 5 minutes." I say and they run. Dylan disqualified by default. He didn't say anything but he couldn't complete the task. He was definitely tired and dehydrated. I knew this test would kill them. It killed me when I did it.
5 minutes later I see them rush back except I'm no where to be found.
Their next clue was where I left them off with a horn.
Rest up in the next 3 hours. Here's water, blankets and a tent. When you wake up your clue will be where it all started. -J
This was the test though. Who would read between the lines. Who wanted it more and who played it safe. There was no wrong answer but it's just a matter of who wanted it more.
They both quickly set up their tents and head inside. I place the cards and just wait from afar who was going to be the smart one.
I sat for what feels forever therefore I just sat in my thoughts. My phone rang and I was confused because it was literally the middle of the night.
Camilla: I miss you 😩
J: why are you awake?
Camilla: can't sleep without you ..
J: that's a lie, what's wrong?
Camilla: it's true but I've just been thinking
J: about?
Camilla: my journey here and you
J: wasn't necessarily a journey 😳
Camilla: ... that's awkward
J: I'm sorry
Camilla: It's okay. It's in the past. I'm just happy I have you
J: miss you too baby girl
Camilla: xox gn
J: ❤️
I put my phone away and make my way inside as I got my answer. I saw someone get out their tents after resting for 30 minutes and make their way to find the next clue. That's all I needed to see who the winner would be. That person wanted it more because they rested safely and got back to business as soon as they could. The winner will be revealed in 3 days. I knew who the winner was but I had to make sure they would do what they were supposed to.
I decided to sleep on the couch just so that I wouldn't wake up Cam. She barely fell asleep and it's not like my couch isn't comfy. Beats holding your girl though. I crash until next morning. Oh I definitely fell into the deepest sleep.
2 days later
Today was coronation day! Sike fuckers. It was actually Camilla's day. Today she was a veteran and little did she know it. She's passed rookie school and is now blood with us. If you're wondering what prize you get and it a flannel with our gang on the back. What color do you ask? Well we choose the color based on what matches you. So yes we literally have a rainbow of flannels around the crew. We never wear them on missions though. We have our own special op clothes. A designer usually comes in and makes specific clothes for that mission and a basic mission outfit for everyone in full black.
Enough of my thoughts though, Camilla was down training Deena on her last day she would be up from the skills lab any minute now and we were all waiting for her. The barbecue was set out on our patio. Music playing, food everywhere. It was a full on party. Which were always my favorite. Kendrick stopped them awhile ago but I brought them back. It all helped us bond and remember why we stick with each other.
I had a beer in my hand just waiting at the door watching out for them to head up the stairs.
"Aye boss we—."
SHUT UP the crew scream whispers which makes everyone laugh.
"She's coming." I say and step away from the door and wait on the side with my hand behind my back holding the flannel. I smile wide and she opens the door and holds onto Deena. We all start laughing after saying "CONGRATS!"
I shake my head laughing because it was ultimately the best thing everyone has seen in forever. She laughs and looks at us in confusion.
"You did it kid!" Carmen says.
"Did what?" She says looking back and forth at both of us.
"You're no longer a rookie kiddo." Bernard says. She then looks at me and back at everyone and runs for a group hug with everyone. It looked like a mosh pit at that point. Everyone had fallen in love with the girl I'm helplessly in love with. I knew I loved her from the moment I laid eyes on her. I knew she was trouble but she was special.
She then looks at me but I signal her to go up the steps in our backyard.
"Boss up here!" Valentina says and I throw the flannel to her and she puts it on Camilla.
"RED! Why red!?" She says laughing.
"Because you were a bitch when you came in. You were a hot head flipping everyone over!" Dylan says. "My back still hurts."
Everyone laughs and she sends him a kiss and mouths an "I'm sorry!"
"I just wanted to announce to Gio congrats on winning!" Valentina says and I look at her confused. They all look at me and I looked just as confused as everyone else.
"Justin I appreciate this offer but I just found out I'm currently 15 weeks pregnant so I disqualify." Valentina says as Nick makes his way up with her smiling.
Everyone cheers and shaking Nick to congrats him.
"Wait what happens now?" I ask considering we don't have any kids in the warehouse.
"2 options. Stay with the crew or go on living your life with your new family. Most people turn to starting a new family and when the kids are old enough, they come back into the crew. If they stay with the crew, until the baby has arrived they stay with us. After they figure out how to stay with the crew and their baby in our unknown baby warehouse as we call and come back usually in a few months." Nick says to me.
"Have you decide?" I ask them and Valentina nods.
"We're staying with the crew but we did have something to ask Justin along with everyone else who has kids." Valentina says.
"Why can't our kids just move in with us here?" She ask.
"You know it's not safe in case of anything. Let alone we don't have a school and everything else to provide them with here. That's more down towards Seattle and pass Los Angeles." I say reminding him.
"Look we are celebrating here and I'll keep in mind that idea considering there are only a few of you with kids. Bring them down to the warehouse. I'll allow them to live here with you for 2 weeks but if anything goes sideways back to the normal rules. Now party because we mean business tomorrow. Congrats Valentina and congrats on Giovanni for being Co-Leader." I say announcing it early.
