Kayla's POV
I was in the hot tub talking to Nash, when someone covered my eyes.
"Trevor, you have got to stop doing that!" I screamed jokingly , turning around.
But it wasn't Trevor, it was hayes.
"Oh hi hayes... Sorry I thought it was Trevor," I said awkwardly.
"Yeah.. um it's okay," he replied, scratching the back of his neck.
"What's up?"i asked, trying to break the awkwardness.
"Umm, I just wanted to talk to you," he said, looking me in the eye.
I got out of the hot tub, and followed hayes around the corner.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Um it's just we had such a connection the night we hung out, what happened?" he asked, sadly.
"Hayes...," I trailed of.
"I'm sorry! I know you like Trevor, but I saw you first!" he shouted, grabbing his hair.
"Hayes, I'm sorry, I only like you as a friend," I said, starting to get scared.
"Jees I'm sorry kayla, can we be friends at least?" he asked, more calmly.
"Yeah, of course," I replied, smiling.
He told me some extremely cheesy jokes, and i finally felt that I was getting along with hayes again.
"We should head back," I said.
"Yeah, let's go," he replied, " can I hold your hand?" he finished, looking at me with hopeful eyes.
"Hayes..." I said, in a warning tone.
"Just as friends?" he said, giving me a warm
Smile.
"Ok, just as friends." I said, grabbing his hand.
We skipped back happily to the pool, as I thought about my friendship with hayes.
What harm could holding his hand do? I thought, and smiled
"Nothing," I whispered to my self.
"Nothing?" hayes asked, confused.
"Nothing." I said again make him smile.
"Maybe nothing can be our always," he said, quoting the fault in our stars.
"You cheesy bastard," I said laughing.
I looked up at him and he looked hurt.
"What's the matter?" I asked, concerned.
"Nothing." he said, flashing a smile as I laughed.
We continued skipping, until i saw a figure up ahead.
"Kayla?" Trevor asked, looking at me and hayes hands.
"Trevor.. it's not what it looks like!" I shouted.
"Save it Kayla," he shouted, walking away.
I broke down into tears.
