                Rusty's POV

"Wake up!" I scream as me and the babies jump on Tyler's bed. "Wake up!!!"

He groans and looks at us. "Happy birtday!" All three of the babies yell with big grins spread across their face

Tyler smiles and pulls us all into a hug. "Thanks you guys!"

We all get up and go downstairs and into the kitchen. Tyler gasps as he looks at the kitchen island. I got up earlier than I should have but I made him a birthday cake and breakfast. Tyler picks up the girls and sets them in their seats and I put Jax in his. I dish out their food and Tyler and I make our plates.

I go sit beside Jax and start eating. "What do you want to do for birthday?" Tyler looks at me and smiles.

"Well for lunch we can go eat at the diner and then you can text everyone to meet at your parents house for a birthday barbecue with actual barbecue."

After gathering everything for the barbecue and getting it to my parents, we set everything up and my dad starts cooking as I tend to the babies. I sit up on the trampoline as the three of them jump around. Light music blares through out the yard.

"Mama, watch!" I look over at Haven and see her try to flip over. She rolls into her back and giggles.

Jax walks to me and sits in between my legs and leans back. I kiss the top of his head as Haven and Shelby bounce around.

"Hey, is there room for one more up here?" I look to the side and see my sister Janelle. I slightly nod and she climbs on. "What's got you in the gutter right now?"

"Nothing, I'm just relaxing." She nods. "Jaxon doesn't talk...I noticed this because this morning we yelled happy birthday to Tyler but nothing left his mouth. He doesn't talk to anyone and idk why..."

"Maybe you should go get him checked out...his hearing and speech." I nod. "You need to tell Tyler and not leave him out of the loop because he has been talking nonstop to dad about you for the last forty five minutes."

I smile. Janelle leaves us be and I climb off with Jaxon. I look at the girls and smile. "You two be careful!" They giggle and keep bouncing around.

I start walking away and all the little babies run to the trampoline and start bouncing around. Jax and I go sit on the swing on the back porch and watch everyone talk and bounce around.

"Hey, Rusty..." Tyler plops down beside us and smiles at Jax who just looks at him. Tyler frowns and looks at me. "What's wrong with him?"

"I don't know. He doesn't talk and he won't go to anyone but me. I just I don't know what's wrong and I don't know how to fix it." Tyler looks at me. "I'm going to make a doctors appointment for tomorrow morning and see what's wrong."

"Everything will be okay." I nod and kiss Jax's head. "I'll go with you if you want."

I nod.

I let the girls stay with my mom last night so that we wouldn't have to drop them off before the appointment this morning. I dressed Jax in comfy clothes so he wouldn't be uncomfortable. Tyler and I had a moment last night where I cried for what felt like hours. He just comforted me and soothes me. I was happy.

"Jaxon Dean!" A nurse walks out of a doorway looking for our Jax. We all stand up and make our way back as we follow the nurse. "Y'all are right here."

The nurse lets us the in the room. I set Jax on the table and she checks his vitals and weight. She quietly leaves and I look over at Tyler. "It's going to be okay."

After having the doctor run some test and letting us go, we needed up at the diner. I order Jax some fries and I just get a shake while Tyler get a meal. The doctor held concern about Jax but didn't say anything and that bothers me. Out of all the test they ran none of them showed he was hearing. Doctor said his name multiple times and he didn't respond and he didn't even look at anyone. He just sat there and did nothing.

"Rusty..." Tyler moves his hands in front of my face. I look at him and he just stares. "What's on your mind..?"

"Don't worry about it." He shakes his head and looks back at me. "It's just how are we going to do this...he's nearly two and can't talk and the girls don't understand. I never imagined this."

"I know but we will get through this and you know it." I nod. My phone starts ringing and I quickly pick it up and answer it.

"Hello?" I stir my straw around in my shake.

"Is this miss Ramirez?"

"Yes."

"The test results are in for Jaxon and we would like to share them with you. Jaxon is severely deaf in both ears. You need to set up an appointment with an ear doctor so you can get him hearing aids and to set up some classes to learn sign language. We suggest that all of your family learn it so he understands better and that your other children understand." I take a deep breath as tears roll down my cheeks. "If you have any questions call us and we will help you."

"Okay..." I lowly mutter out.

I hang up and look at Tyler as tears continue to fall down my cheeks. "What is it?"

"Jaxon is deaf..."
