~~~~~~~~~~~~~~••••••••••••~~~~~~~~~~~~~~After a long day of investigations with his partner, all Gavin wanted to do was sleep. That was exactly his plan for when he arrived back home. His partner, and love interest, Conan, was just as tired.
As they finished up their investigation, Gavin leaned against a wall, crossed his arms, and shut his eyes.
As Conan was finishing tying up the lose ends of the investigation, he heard something hit the wood floor with a thud. When he turned, he realized that Gavin wasn't leaning against the wall like he was before. Worried, Conan being to frantically scan the room looking for his tired partner.
He tore his eyes from the center of the room and looked down. He jumped back suddenly, much to the surprise to the other officers around him. He looked down, a frown forming on his face. There, on the floor, was Detective Gavin Reed, asleep. Conan immediately realized what happened. He did, however, wonder how Gavin fell asleep standing up. He stood silently as he contemplated it for a moment.
He knelt down on the ground and rolled the sleeping man over on his back. Conan searched him briefly for injuries. He thankfully found nothing but a few bruises. He gently picked his partner up, trying not to wake him, and carried him out to their car
Conan gently set the still sleeping detective in the front seat. He held him up with one hand and buckled him in with the other. Once he was finished, Conan shuffled to the driver's side and began their drive home.
Suddenly, a car came out of nowhere, forcing Conan to slam on the breaks. He instinctively threw and arm in front of a sleeping Gavin so that he wouldn't get hurt.
Panic flooded Conan as a single tear rolled down his face. He took a deep breath and regained his composure. Suddenly, due to hitting Conan's arm and being restrained, almost choked, by the seatbelt, Gavin woke up startled.
"Where am I? Why am I in a car? Are you kid napping me? What-" Gavin's rapid fire questions were suddenly cut short as Conan slapped a hand over his mouth. "R-Relax. I-It's just me. We are going home," Conan said, his voice cracking slightly.
He didn't realize he was shaking, but Gavin did. He grabbed Conan's arm, removing it from over his mouth. He then grabbed his pale partner's cold hand and intertwined his fingers with Conan's as a small blush spread across Gavin's face like a wildfire.
Without realizing it, Conan tightened his grip on Gavin's hand. Gavin just let him, doing everything he could to clam his partner down. The blush on his face turned an even deeper hue of red.
"What happened?" The detective asked softly. "A-a car came out of nowhere. It almost hit us. I had to slam on the breaks. I know it didn't hit us so I shouldn't be anxious but...but..." Conan fell silent. Gavin reached over and hugged him. Well, the best he could from a car seat. He felt Conan relax into the hug. They eventually pulled away and Conan shot Gavin a thankful smile.
Once he had calmed down, Conan began to drive home again, still gripping Gavin's hand, a slight blush forming on his ivory face. Neither boy wanted to let go, so they didn't.
Conan saw Gavin struggling to keep his eyes open out of the corner of his eye. "Go back to sleep, Gav. I'll get you in the house," he said, a soft smile on his lips. "No!" Gavin whined. "I wanna wait to sleep until we get home." Conan's chuckled lightly and placed a hand on Gavin's knee. "Okay, whiney."
