Gavin woke up to the smell of a pine scented candle burning in his room and the absence of his boyfriend Nines. He reluctantly got out of bed and walked over to his dresser to change into a hoodie and sweatpants. He combed through his messy hair and brushed his reach before going downstairs where he was greeted with the sweet smell of waffles (which are better than pancakes fight me) and syrup. He entered his kitchen in time to see his boyfriend gently laying out a beautifully prepared breakfast of fruit and waffles.

Nines heard the footsteps of Gavin approaching the kitchen. "Morning, love," he said. "Good morning, babe. What's all this for?" He asked happily. "No specific reason, just kinda felt like cooking you breakfast this morning," he replied happily. "Well, thank you very much," Gavin said as he walked over to wrap his arms around his boyfriend in a hug before pulling back for a soft kiss. Nines lead Gavin to sit down and then sat down next to him while he ate. He then, with the help of Gavin, cleaned up the result of breakfast and sat down on the couch with their fingers intertwined.

Conan turned to Gavin and began to speak. "So, I was thinking. Since there is only twelve days until Christmas, maybe we could go pick out our Christmas tree and decorate?" Nines said, his words sounding more like a question. Gavin's face lit up. He nodded vigorously and excitedly. Nines chuckled. "Don't hurt yourself, Gav." The two stood up, still keeping their fingers intertwined as the walked out to their car after Gavin put a jacket on.

They drove to the nearest place that sold Christmas trees to pick one out. Gavin excités exited the car when the arrives, Nines swiftly follows behind him. They walked up and down the many rows of Christmas trees that were in a variety of green shades ranging from a vibrent light green to a darker yet beautiful green. They stopped every so often to look at trees. The tree couldn't be too tall or too wide, so they had to determine by Nines measuring the trees. Having an android boyfriend often came in handy.

They reached the final row of trees, Gavin's head on Nines' shoulder as they walked looking at all the trees. Gavin's head suddenly perked up. He broke free of his boyfriend's grip and ran over to a tree that wasn't too tall but wasn't shot either. It wasn't wide or skinny. Its color was somewhere between a dark green and a vibrent green. Nines briefly surveyed the tree, taking in its measurements. "Perfect," he said. Gavin smiled at his loved and went to grab the attention of a worked. The boy, who looked to be about Gavin's age, came over and prepared the tree and tied it to the pair car roof. They thanked the man and exchanged brief a "Merry Christmas" to each other. The pair then drove off back home, excited to decorate their new tree.

They arrived home and teamed up to bring the rather heavy tree through their front door and into their living room. Nines got to work placing its trunk carefully into the base and screwed the holders into it. He placed the skirt under the tree and chuckled as their cat Oreo keyed on the red skirt immediately after it was placed down. He then went to the basement to retrieve the box of ornaments. He placed the box on their couch and called Gavin into the living room to being to decorate the tree. Gavin put on a Christmas playlist on Spotify and the two got to work.

They opened the brown tattered and worn box to reveal ornaments ranging in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. Before they began placing ornaments, Gavin put light around the tree so that it would light up, making it more festive and beautiful somehow. Nines picked up and ornament that looked like it was turned into a poorly pained reindeer. The date in the back read 'December 20, 2006.' "Did you make this?" Nines chuckled holding up the bobble. Gavin sighed and nodded clearly disappointed in the ornament. Nines laughed slight harder at his clear disappointment and put the ornament on the front of the tree.

They continued to work in the tree for at least an hour, changing the Spotify playlist when it was finished. The continued to pull out ornaments made by Gavin and ones that were made and gifted to him from family members. They reminisced on the last as Gavin told stories about the origins of the treasured bobbles as they were place in various places across the tree. Pre-painted ornaments were also pulled out and scattered across the tree. Nines laughed when he had to place them on the higher part of the tree because Gavin was far too short. Gavin glared at him each time he would laugh, but would laugh along, too.

The two would break the decorating to dance to the Christmas music together, dancing with energy to the more upbeat music, and slow dancing with Gavin's head in Nines' chest to the slower songs. Once the decorations were put on the tree, strung beads, lights, and ornaments, Nines made hot chocolate for Gavin and wrapped themselves in blankets while the sat by their fake fireplace, the Christmas music still resonating from the speakers of their TV. Gavin happily rested his head on Nines' shoulder as he drank his hot drink.

Once it was finished, he suddenly realized something was missing from their tree. The star in to. He got up, leaving Nines puzzled. He motioned for Nines to come with him. He pulled the yellow star out of the box as Nines laughed. "What are you laughing at?" Gavin asked smirking even though he knew what he was laughing at. His boyfriend wrapped his arms firmly around his waist and began to lift him off the floor, earning a surprised squeak from Gavin. "I swear to got if you drop me," Gavin said. "What are you going to do about it, shorty?" Nines teased. "Gavin hung his head in defeat as Nines laughed. "Just put the star in the tree, dork."

Gavin did as requested with a wide smile that matched his boyfriend's. He was slowly and carefully brought back to the ground and he rested his head against Nines' chest as they both admired the work they completed that day. Jones pulled Gavin into a soft kiss and the two returned to cuddle in their spot under a blanket by the fake fireplace.
