Conan woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of soft coughs beside him. He pushed aside his thought that his partner may be sick, assuming he jumped to conclusions too easily. He turned on his side so he was now facing his boyfriend, Gavin Reed. He placed a hand softly on him and rubbed his back for a while, his hands traveling up and down his skin. His partner stirred slightly then rolled over facing Conan. "Why are you awake?" Gavin asked in the tired voice that Conan loved to listen to. "I don't know. I kinda just woke up," Conan explained. "Oh okay," Gavin said simply. "Go back to sleep. You need-" Gavin was cut off by a cough. "You need it."Conan frowned at the brunette as he coughed and spoke. "Are you okay, honey?" Gavin thought for a moment. "Yes. I'm fine," he lied. Conan gave him a look of disbelief, but decided it was too early to argue and just responded, "Just Go back to sleep and get some rest, Gav." Gavin hummed and turned back over, his back once again facing Conan. Conan wrapped his arms around his boyfriend. His body temperature felt unusually high. Conan though on whether or not he should wake Gavin and check his temperature or let him sleep and do it in the morning. He decided to do it in the morning. He tightened his grip around Gavin and smiled softly as he felt him cuddle closer to Conan's warmth.
*In the morning*
Conan groaned and reached over Gavin to turn the blaring alarm clock off. He couldn't locate the button without seeing it, however, and gave up trying to blindly stop the noise. He had almost forgot about work. Almost. As he was about to get up to turn it off, he felt Gavin move and heard him groan loudly. To Conan's surprise and amusement, Gavin picked up his pillow and whined like a child who didn't want to get up for school. He then whipped the pillow at the alarm clock. Conan laughed and got up, turning it off.
Gavin made grabbie arms at Conan, trying to get him to come lay back down. "My aren't we whiney this morning," Conan joked. Gavin groaned yet again. "Just come here and cuddle me." His voice was scratchy. Not the morning voice he usually had, but a voice that was missing half of its vocal range. "Gavin, why does it sound like your losing your voice?" Conan asked suspiciously. "My voice sounds like that every morning," he said simply. He believed that excuse would fool Conan, but Conan was smarter than that. "Really? Because that's not the voice I remember waking up to every morning..." Conan said skeptically. "Shit," Gavin mumbled. "What's wrong?" Conan taunted knowing Gavin had nothing else to do but admit that he was sick. Gavin let out another small whine and finally confessed. "Fine. I don't feel good..." he said, then coughed and held his chest, groaning in pain. "So you lied to me last night?" Conan said, giving Gavin a stern look. "I did?" He asked, honestly not able to remember what had happened last night. "Are you that delirious?" Conan chuckled and rolled his eyes. Gavin nodded his head slightly. "Last night, I said 'Are you okay, honey?' And you said 'yes'. So you flat out lied to me about how you felt," Conan explained, trying to sound angry, but he and Gavin both knew he wasn't mad. He was concerned.
Gavin whimpered. "What's wrong, love?" Conan asked sweetly. "Come lay with me," he said, dragging out the 'e' in the word 'me'. "Let me take your temperature first. Then we can cuddle as much as you want," Conan said. Before Gavin could argue, Conan moved swiftly out of the room to get the thermometer. While he was out of the room, he called Captain Fowler and informed him thatGavin and he wouldn't be coming into work that day. Of course, Fowler had a problem with it at first, but Conan managed to get him to let them stay home.
