Val's POV
I eye the lady and realize she's Italian. Then I look back at the man and had to fight tears. I quickly run to the back and fled out the back door. "GET HER!" I hear the man yell. I ran and ran until I was at a motel. My body was so exhausted. Running through that snow was so very hard. I probably had run for miles. Taking random turns to get rid of the guy.
I remembered I had the knife in my pocket. I quickly hid it in my bra, put the gun in my pocket. Hopefully, I could get a room with this gun. I had no money obviously.
"E-Excuse me s-sir." The man looks up. "W-what." I pull the gun out and lay it on the counter. "Oh god take whatever you want please don't shoot." I look at him confused. "What? No! I need a room. I have no money. Can I use this gun for money? Please?" He looks up from the gun to me.
"You're really desperate aren't you?" I nod. I shamefully look down. "Very." It came out quieter than a whisper but he heard me. "Alright fine. Two nights at the most." No way.
"Oh my god. You have saved my life. Literally. Thank you." I sob thank you. He smiles awkwardly and gives me the key card. I quickly run to the room. I lock the door and put a chair up against the doorknob. Then I push the bed in front of the window. Blocking any entries just in case. I walk to the bathroom and look at myself. Oh my god.
My hair was a rats nest. My skin was pale and dry. My lips were chapped, I had dark circles around my eyes. I took the sweater off, and the files fell out. Oh my god. I forgot I had these. I quickly set them on the table in there. I run to the phone and dial Luca's family phone. No answer. I decided to dial his mafia number. A very angry but tired Luca picks the phone up. "What? Who is this?!" I sit there for a second. Hearing his voice made me so fucking happy. "Hello. Don't make me ask again." I take a deep breath. "Look if this is a jo-" I cut him off.
"L-Luca!" He stops. "Oh my fucking god. Valentina?!" I smile breathlessly. "Y-Yes. I-I'm alive. I'm here." I can hear him take a deep breath in. "You're in Russia?!" He screams. "I-I don't know. I think so." He once again takes a deep breath. "I'm on my way. I already had Chris track this address." I smile. But then bad thoughts come to me. "Please hurry! What if A-Alex finds me? What if my d-dad finds me?" I hear the line go silent.
"L-Luca?" I'm so scared. I need him to hurry. "Luca please I'll explain later but I need you to hurry." I was crying now. "I'm on my way. I'll be there in four hours." He says coldly. Then he hangs up. I had to tell him the truth. I couldn't keep it a secret much longer.
I get into the shower. Letting the hot water hit my skin. I wash my hair and body, then just sit in there. For a good two hours. After the numbness of my body went away, I could feel my left ankle start hurting pretty bad. I look at it, and realize it was very swollen. I look at my other ankle and it was fine. I figured I must've broken it while trying to run in the snow.
I finally get out and drink the two waters the motel provided. Luckily the fridge was packed with small packages of foods. They were stuff I'd never tried before but I didn't care. I ate half the fridge. I was so fucking hungry. I get up and check the alarm clock. It had been another two hours. Luca still hadn't shown up. I was getting worried. I sat on the other chair in the room because my ankle hurt so bad I couldn't stand anymore.
It'd been thirteen minutes when loud banging comes from the door. No one states their name. I don't open it. Just in case. Still, someone was banging, but no name. Once they stopped I yell, "What are my dog's names?" The person finally speaks up. "Boomer and Kaiser." I feel my anxiety quickly go away, as I sprung out of the chair. I ran to the door and get the chair out of the way. I didn't even pay attention to the pain my ankle was shooting throughout my entire body.
